my birthday is tomorrow the 4th of July and I am absolutely brand new to the blade forums and I was wondering how I could go about acquiring a fiddle back knife I'd like to treat myself to a little birthday present and I would like it to be a fiddleback

Fiddlebacks are sold on Fridays via the Fiddleback Friday threads. Tomorrow is a special case and Ken (Bamboo) has stated that the thread will be posted at 10:00AM ET. Normally it's later in the day and somewhat random as to when it's posted.

So you best chance is to be here at that time hitting your browser refresh button until you see the thread listing all the knives. Post a "I'll Take It!" and the knife you want and hope you beat everyone else to it.

Dude .. dont even try to sort out all that jazz thurin just told you. Recommending you to go try a Fiddleback Friday on your first purchase much less your first day here .. absolutely insane. Like Michael Jordan trying to teach you how to dunk (online) the first day you bought a basketball. You'll get confused, frustrated, and down right angry. No need for all that. I would suggest you go browse the Fiddleback Market Place first or a Fiddleback DEALER. Go browse thru market place .. lots of gently used Fiddlers up there right now. Find one you like, try it out (it's a fair and generally safe trading venue) .. and then come witness a Friday feeding frenzy before jumping into the deep end without your water-wings.

I didn't even buy the knife I wanted each of the first two times I participated! Yup that's right...twice. Looking back, I am glad I screwed it up, but it is a frenzy of epic proportion! Wanted to pick up one to try it out. Currently have ten. This whole ecosystem is addicting to no end. Welcome.
