Hey all,

Just made a cutting test video for my BK16.

Not sure if I took it through enough abuse yet but the convex edge is holding up like a champ!

Comments/constructive criticism welcome. If you have any questions or tests you want me to put it up to, let me know and I'll see if I can get that done for you all as well.

Pretty neat how just a little tweak to the edge can make a big difference, isn't it?
Great work.

Yeah, it's biting into the wood a lot better than it was factory shipped (for me at least) and the edge is holding up really well! I'm really happy with it now. Last thing I'd really want to do with it is get some nice wood handles.

It's the old say:

"Fear Guys with one arm partially shaved cause they have sharp knifes."
By someone on Blade forums

Overall nicely done but I think your edge has a few micro chips in it since the paper cutting didnt seem very smooth. Might be wrong though since I know ALOT of people find it hard pulling off a good cut in front of a camera or other people.

I think it's more my technique than anything else. I wanted to cut "curvy" lines since I had just watched a video with someone doing that and I pretty much failed. I've been trying to avoid cutting paper in general because I heard it's bad for your blade in general. It will cut right through 95% of the time or more no problem when I don't have a camera on a tripod between my arms + I have shaky hands. I will do some more testing to make sure that's not the problem though. thanks for the advice.

yea def have some micro chip or rolls. .but overall not so bad maybe ur just started. .mine cut s shapes outa phonebook and recept paper

You should cut paper, it gives a good indication of micro chips unlike cutting/whittling wood. It'll only damage your edge if you cut a huge amount of paper, a few sclices wont really kill it.

run ur fingernail over the edge thats how i catch all the faults on my edge and usually u can just strop them out, its what i do

Nice vid.

Looks like the edge is working for you. Soft pine is good media for edge retention.

Next, get you something like a hardwood hammer handle, or seasoned firewood, try that out and then check the edge.

Looks like you got it right, though.

Good job, brother.
