Hi there, my blades are starting to fall off my norse tomahawks that I bought from cold steel. They're wooden handled. Do any of you tomahawk throwing owners blades fall off your handles? If they do what do you do to fix them. I'd rather not buy a replacement handle as they cost 8$ each.

Would any of you be able to post pictures of your throwing tomahawks if the blades don't fall off or post a link on where to buy some where the blades stay well fixed?

I know it might be better for the blade to not be completely stationary just in case you hurt or break the handle but I'd like some that stay on reletively well.

Thanks for any help.

Cold Steel doesn't offer the best handle-to-head fit out there, but it's pretty good for the price. The best thing you can do is sand the handle for a more solid fit, and the inside of the head so it's a nice surface for plenty of friction then soak the handle while it's on the head to swell the wood. That should help.

Having it come out is normal though, there are a lot of forces involved there, and if it didn't come loose every so often it might result in a broken handle

Put a pin through the head. I drill a 1/8" hole side to side on my axes and tap a 1/8" spike through, then file it flush.

I had a problem with my Cold Stell Pipe Hawk head coming loose. I had sanded the haft for a better fit before hand but it kept coming loose. Turns out only the upper 1/4" of the head was making good contact with the haft.

Best way to go about it is to file or sand the inside of the eye smooth, then sand the haft until you get a good fit.

File the eye untill it's nice and smooth insude. Then sand the haft until it's a good fit. Beat the crap out of it until it's well seated. Do NOT soak it in water as it will actually shrink more that if left dry. You can soak the hafted hawk in linseed oil which will swell the haft a bit. If you freeze the haft for a day and heat the head in a warm oven like 150ish for a short while then hammer the cold haft into the warm head it helps a bit.

What Pipeman said.

Additionally, you can tie a turk's head knot under the head which will keep it from sliding off the handle. If the head wiggles loose (will happen despite an improved fit), just pound the 'hawk upside down on a hard surface which will re-seat the hawk.
