My BM 650 vs. my Kershaw Vapor

I got my 650 first. I got it based on looks mostly. I carried it awhile and was sort of impressed.

I got my $19.96 at Wally world Vapor a bit later. Holy Cow! What a knife!

Compared to the Vapor, the BM is cheaper feeling, rougher to open, and doesn't seem as sharp. And at a bit over 3x the price!!!

I'm going to get a Vapor II asap!

And having handled a Gerber Harsey Air Ranger in serrated (and liking it a lot!) I'm after a plain edge version of that as well!

My next BM will be a 556. Because everything I've heard says that is a good cheap knife. (And I want to sample the Axis lock).

But anyhow, if you are undecided about the Vapor... GO FOR IT!!!

Well I have never had a BM650, so I can't comment on that.

I do agree with you though. I have not used mine much yet (only about a week old) but the Vapor II just impresses the hell out of me. Comfortable handle, smooth opening, secure lockup, good edge geometry, and some traction grooves cut into all the right spots. I wish it had and ambi opening stud though, and a little better designed lanyard hole.

Everybody needs one of these, and if you go to Walmart to buy one, pick up a Brinkman Legend LX flashlight while you are there (another super value; basically a poor man's surefire for $19.99)!

I recently bought a Vapor at Wally world for my neighbor's 40th Bday party. He was blown away and so was I. his perception was that I had given him a really high quality knife. My impresion was that while not up to my EDC standards, this knife was a real steal for $20.00!. It's truly an amazing value. Solid lock up, razor sharp out of the box and well finished overall.

If I was still economically challenged (you can't say poor anymore, but I've been there), this is probably what I'd carry for an EDC.

I agree! I bought one of these just because everyone was raving about it. I liked it so much I got it a Chive to keep it company :) I'm going to check out that flashlight- thanks for the tip. I have 2 Surefires, but I wish they were a little cheaper! Does that Brinkman use lithiums? That's why the Surefires blow the Maglites away, they are just SO bright.

Yep, the Brinkman LX uses two 123 lithiums, and is slightly brighter than a Surefire 6P, but not as smooth a beam.

The Vapor is EXCELLENT. I just picked up another one this weekend in Linchfield IL. I tried 3 different Walmarts in the Peoria area and St. Louis area and they were all OUT!!!:( :( :( Finally lucked out:D :D I now have a large and a small but I am still going to get another small if I can find one :D

I must agree. I got a made in Japan Vapor several months back.
My first thought was how awesome it was. If you took all my folders and left a Vapor, I would not feel unprepared. Excellent value.
