My Bob Ham "special"

I asked Bob to make me an old fashioned single blade candle jack.
He was kind enough to send it to me "naked" so I can add the handle and do a bit of embellishment.
True to Bob's high standards, the blade is ATS34, the bolsters are dovetailed, the tang fits into a milled recess to facilitate smooth opening.
Note the classical outline of the knife in the closed position - how the blade follows the shape of the handle....a sure sign of a maker who knows his craft.

The handle is natural vintage bone done in my "fossil" jigging.
The "shield" is my initial that I made from copper.
Star-burst bolsters, stippled exterior and my "flaming edge" engraving rounds off the knife.
It lives in my pocket.

I have seen you post many good examples of your work but this one takes the cake.

It is a nice knife from Bob Ham but you have taken it to a different level. I would class this as a Oupa-Bob Ham collaboration knife and not just an embellished knife.

What a great knife, Oupa! And it sure is nice to see your face around BF!!;)

I don't think that that knife is suitable for the Southern Hemisphere.
It would work much better up north, where things are right-side up.
You can send it up any old time.
:D

I never was an envious person in my long life, never ;) - but right now I am :grumpy:
What a pretty folder - best wishes to oupa ! :D

Beautiful Work!

Could you please enlighten us as to how one may go about that 'flaming edge'?

I'm thinking of something along the lines of a dremel with diamond engraver point????

I like everything about that knife....thanks for posting.......it looks as handy as it is handsome ! Great work Oupa !

-Regards
