Svashtar said:Gary, I just got off the phone with Yangdu and there has been a terrible mix-up! You see, I actually got my email in _before_ you on this, but in the heat of things Yangdu got our emails mixed up! I'll bet you're saying "Damn!"Don't you hate it when that happens?
So, I know you'll do the right thing and send it on to me, and I'll be happy to reimburse you directly. Sound good? I'm sure you'll get another one almost as good in a few weeks or maybe months, OK? Don't worry too much about it.
Thanks for understanding!
Best,
Norm

Dave Rishar said:I hope that he plans on using it. As I've opined in the past, it's a good design. Not better or worse than a khukuri, just...different. I look at it like a baby Tarwar.
The handle shape, which seems similar to mine, is a stroke of genius. One has the option of choking up for control, sliding back a bit for more power, or "slipping the pommel" for maximum energy on target. I'd like to see that style handle (with some minor refinements) on other things. It gives the user a large degree of flexibility in their style. Mine also featured a desirable heat treat for my particular (ab)uses; some users would benefit from a slightly harder edge, but mine handles misuse very well.
My only other tweaks at this point would be a small guard (which is unnecessary for work but would increase its utility as a weapon) and a tang that runs completely through the handle. Such a tang is not required but would improve the balance slightly and allow for a conveniant means of attaching a good, sturdy butt plate -- again, not necessary, but such things are sometimes useful, especially if you're an abusive ape like I am.
In its current iteration it's more than satisfactory, and some would disagree with my recommendations. We're at the point with this design that any further refinements are strictly a matter of personal taste.
