My boss handed me a knife today and said, "Sharpen my Buck". It was an old wooden handled lock back. Similar to a 110, but no brass and I believe only one end had metal. The wooden handle was kind of rounded. Total knife length was appox. 5 1/2 - 6" open.

The only marks on the blade were C.l. STAINLESS 1450. It had a fingernail groove along the top and a lock towards the rear of the handle. It didn't say Buck anywhere on it. Sorry, I did not get a pic-I don't own a cell phone.

I didn't think it was a Buck. Can anyone help me identify this Buck ...if it is a Buck?

People around here reference any 110 looking knife as a "buck knife". Ive heard fixed blades referenced like this to. It could be just the way he refers to it, not the brand name.

This is almost exactly like his stamp. Thank you for the help. He said his Dad gave it to him when he was a kid. I told him I didn't think it was a Buck...he was adamant it was.

It might be possible Buck made a special run of knives specifically for them, but I would think Buck would be on the knife somewhere.

You know I think it is a Buck. His father told him it's a Buck then it's a Buck. Sometimes it is better not to tell the truth. Years ago my MIL brought a string of pearls that were given to her by a well loved and missed relative to the local Jeweler's for a cleaning. The man behind the counter laughed and told her they were fake thereby hurting her feelings and making her look foolish. If it had been the owner of the store he would have cleaned them and never said a thing about being fake. I guess what I'm saying is sometimes you just keep your trap shut.

My pleasure Mono, I love this stuff. And, there could be a Buck connection somehow. Stranger things have happened.

BTW, there are a handful of auction hits using C.I. knife and Compass Industries knife so you might care to have a gander. They all have Japan in common. I have several Japan made Buck knives. The Eccos and the 267 and 268, for example. Buck has sold knives made by others: Ultrablade or Ultra-blade label. Sometimes there is no clear bright line to follow. Someone knows...
