The Bear MGC arrived the other day. I got my Mavica back and replaced the floppy disc drive on the putey, so here are a couple of photos:

The grips are advertised as Indian stag bone.

The blade is large a bit over nine inches long, and its purty...

BUG,
Great looking Bowie. That second picture scared the hell out of me,I spit coffee.
Will you be doing a review, how it cuts and where is it's balance point?

Doug:)

If you're interested in bowie type knives that are not overly expensive, and of good quality, may I suggest browsing the Linder catalogue (solingen-made section) - some nice offerings in the $100-200 range. At least the Knife Center, World Knives and Discount Knives sell them online.

The knife was sharp enough out of the box that you cannot handle it carelessly without running the risk of getting cut. It is not shaving sharp. It did cut a piece of paper that was held loosely. The balance point, as well as I can tell, is at the crossguard.

The false edge is not sharp, but looks like it could be sharpened fairly easily. I am sad to say knife sharpening is not one of my strong points.

I am completely satisfied with the knife and the price... $77 plus $7.95 S&H.
