They going to learn on release? My first good bow was a Hoyt Mystic Rebel XT that i had gone in halfs with at the age of 9 or 10. Peep sight, stay glo PSE sites, short stabilizer, and a wrist strap i think was all i had put on. Had that thing until i was 16ish. Took the bow hunting course a year or so later with it (11). Looks like they're having tons of fun. I used to put up soda cans and try and get em from about 40 yards, or milk caps. Took a few first place trophies and a title at 3d shoots whenever we could go to them. It was an all around good time. I haven't shot in a while due to having nowhere to shoot, but the last time i did shoot i had my bow up at 80 lbs (gonzo safari by martin, i could consistantly shoot it for anyone thinking i was just trying to show off lol). Anyways, the person was supposed to switch the cables out on the bow when i brought it to the shop and ended up just doing the string and it exploded in my face (i did however get a score of 10 on that target). So i'm left with my PSE recurve, i outgrew the mystic rebel. Like them, i learned to shoot on finger release with no type of sites. I wish i had a son to teach! Planning on going to 3D shoots with them?

Yeah...after they learn to shoot & learn how to consistant in their draw & form then I will upgrade them to pin sights & a release. I shoot 3D myself & my next trip to the course, they are gonna be shooting !

Sounds like fun! I always draw to the corner of my mouth. I actually had a kisser button on my string for a while until i could consistantly draw. When i taught my brother and girlfriend, I used a bead that i cut a slit with a saw in and taped it to the string so they could get the feel for it also. My kisser button wasn't so ghetto though lol.

Great pics. I got my son started about 5 years ago. He will be 14 next week.
I've been using Mathews bows or quite a few years, so we decided on a Mathews Ignition for him.Its a great bow for kids, because as they grow, you can take it to the Mathews dealer, and they will switch out the cams and limbs free of charge, as they are ready for an increase in draw length and poundage...
He will be getting a new bow this year though, because he outgrew it. :(

Its great finding a hobby that you can enjoy with your kids. When they are legally old enough to hunt, that is really cool. Last year was his first year, and I never had any problems getting him out of his sleeping bag in the mornings :D
