I just recieved a new Emerson yesterday and I opened and closed it (with grit in) about 300 times and then dissamebled cleaned and lubed. Now it is buttery smooth. But one problem!............
It makes a terrible squeeling sound while being opened and closed. At first I figured I thought it will go away with a about a hundred opening and closeings. But it hasn't! I even sprayed extra oil in there and still SREEEETCH~!
It is coming from the small ball on the lockbar. Maybe it is froze or damaged? I don't really know if these are supposed to roll inside or are fixed?
Now my question is has anyone else had this happen before?
Does the ball have to actually roll? Is it stuck and that is what causes the noise?
It seems the lockbar is acting as a fine tuning fork which makes the noise and the ball is vibrating it..whoo Hoo.:barbershop_quartet_
And oil will not fix it.
Anyway, anyone can help or make suggestions before I call Emerson customer care again?
Me: Hello customer care. My new Emerson is buttery smooth and open and closes like a charm.. the only thing is it makes a sound.
Customer care: Okay get ear plugs.
Me: Gee thanks for solving that for me again!
