I purchased an Emerson Mach-1 SFS last week and decided to put it to good use helping my brother move to his new apartment over the weekend. I didn't put to any hard use other than cutting packaging twine, tape, boxes, etc.. I let my cutlery challenged brother choose one of my knives to use during the move and he selected my B*** S****** (spear point). To make things fair, I sharpened the S****** to a good "grabby edge" so he could use it. After using the knives here and there, we decided to cut up all the boxes and stack them up. I have to say that the Mach-1 has one of the most comfortable handles on any production knife I own, and had no problem zipping through the material being cut. My brother on the other hand, complained about the awkward handle shape of the B*** S****** and the aggressive texture of the scales, and he quickly got tired of using the knife. (Now, keep in mind that my brother is not a knife enthusiast.) I decided to swap for a while and his first comment was: "This is more like it." He absolutely fell in love with the Mach-1.

Afterwards, we went to my place and I let him look at a few of my knives, but he was still hooked on the Mach-1. He just couldn't understand why it was so expensive compared to cheap discount store knives, but I slapped him across the head for his blasphemy and made him realise that you get what you pay for. Today he called me to let me know that he just bought his own from a local retailer and is now very interested in buying a Commander next. The poor guy is hooked! :D Hey, maybe it's not a bad thing after all.;)
