My brother Michael, who was a member of the Buck Collectors Club (member #1072) died last Sunday. He left a wife and three young sons, ages 5, 2 and 7 months. Michael was only 35.
He really liked knives, especially Bucks, but he did not own very many as he preferred to spend his money on his family. Since he liked Bucks so much I bought him a membership in the Buck Collectors Club last year. I also bought him a membership in the Case Collectors Club but he only renewed his BCCI membership. He intended to eventually upgrade to life membership.
The few Buck knives he owned were nothing really special but he did have good taste. He owned a Rush, a mini-Buck, a 503, a 110 that his wife bought him for his birthday June of this year and a 119 that I bought for him for his birthday. He had been wanting a 119 and was seriously considering buying one at Wal-Mart but he wanted a leather sheath. I ordered one for him to make sure he got the leather sheath.
We were intending to go to the Blade Show next year. Neither one of us have ever been to it. I may still go but I really wanted to go with my brother. You folks that will be there next year will miss meeting a great person with a fantastic sense of humor. Michael was very well known and very well liked. He would do anything for people. His funeral was standing room only. The preacher cried during the eulogy.
I miss him. He was also my best friend.
