If I never see another sheet of sandpaper ever again I'll be a happy man !

At last the handle on my new Bruce Culberson knife is almost finished and I have to say it feels awesome in the hand ! I'd sand it for a few minutes then feel it in a variety of grips and then go at it again till it felt just perfect. I still have a little finishing to do and it will never look like those that masters such as Bruce etc make but I'm really pleased how it's turning out !:)

Looking good. How are you going finish it, boiled linseed oil or something else?

Yeah I have a Linseed oil based product that I think I'll use, just working to fetch the scratch marks out caused by the course sandpaper first !

That is really coming our nice  I am hoping we will be seeing a lot of shots of it along with Maisy, Snicker and the beautiful greenery up north there! :D

Looks great Pitdog!!!

Among the best things about this knife is the satisfaction in knowing that *you* personally sculpted the handles specifically to fit *you*!!! Since you already have confidence in the blade/steel, the remaining variable is the handle shaping/contouring/fit and you've got that part handled ;)

Congrats on you awesome new knife!

PS - i just noticed this is my 999th post so i'll be thinking through a "1,000th Post Pay it Forward Give-Away" and will post a new thread here in Outdoor Gear, Survival Equipment & More once i've got everything in order.

Bruce is making me a Cleaver in July

I have tested several of his knives-

--They cut GREAT and stay sharp as hell for a long time too

At first I was going to say that the handle looked too boxy for my taste but in the last pictures it seems to be more rounded. And anyway, if it fits you... that's what really counts. Good job!

great job! any tips, think I'm going to try this next month.

LOL, I'm the last person to ask for tips when it comes to stuff like this. The best tip I can offer is to go slowly, once you get it close to the the final shape just sand a little then try it, sand some more and try again. Remember that you can always take more off but can't add it back on !!!

I guess boxy would be a fair description. Big chunky handles seem to work best for me and cause much less hand fatigue during prolonged use. I kept removing material slowly till it just felt perfect in my hand, far more material was moved from the underside than the top to achieve this feel.
