Yesterday I was fortunate enough to come across a lot of 11 legitimate Buck Strider 889's. Seeing a mutually beneficial opportunity for my self and the collectors on this forum, I purchased the 11 knifes so that I may sell them at fair market value to those members who may be looking for this out of production folder.

After happily purchasing my platinum membership I posted the knives for sale as an individual. Although I did find a price for the lot, I wanted to give those interested members an opportunity to help me define a fair market value. Not even one Page into the thread I was told by a moderator that I would have to define a price which I promptly did. A few minutes later unfortunately without a warning the mod decided to lock my for sale thread and instantly move it to Pirates Cove. As you may imagine I was offended for being tagged a fraud of some sort based on the mods speculation that the knives may have been Chinese counterfeits. Although I feel the correspondence that followed should have happened prior to my thread being moved to Pirates Cove the mod asked me to provide proof of the knives legitimacy which I did in the form of photographs of the receipts from earlier that day. Additionally I offered to take as many pictures as necessary of the knife, the box, with factory UPC label, the instruction manual etc as well as giving the mod the URL for the store (authorized reseller for Emerson Spyderco, protec) from whom I purchased the knives. Unfortunately the response I received from the mod was something to the effect of please stop your correspondence within to this p.m.

So now what I am looking for is for one of our respected members to help me confirm the authenticity of the knives. I would like to start by sending as many photographs as necessary as well as purchase documentation in order to expedite this so I may put my thread back up ASAP. If necessary I'm willing to go as far as to fedex this expert at my own expense one of the knives of his choosing so that he may inspected in person.

In order to show my gratitude to whomever ends up helping me I will send you one of the knives at no charge as a thank you.

Please see the below photos.

here's my 889...it's the best I can do to try and help you. Clearer pics of tang stamps and opposite side would help...they look real to me though...Also, check the opposite side of blade to see if it is stamped with a code ie: ( sb.4) but clearer pics are a must...
this one had the black coating removed, or it wore off...

Can I buy one? I will contact Buck for you to ensure they're legit.

Thank you!

I tried to message you, but it's not giving me the option. I would like to purchase an Olive drab. Also provide me with a serial number from the box, and I'll call Buck.

Cheers

I'm not an expert and only own one 889. I have read that the fakes have etched markings and real ones are stamped. Some close up shots of the markings would help identify yours. I'll post some close-ups of mine in a few.

Pm or email me the price on these. I'm also interested in one. Preferably one with a green handle.

If you want 100% authentication, send one to Joe Houser at Buck. Then there will be no dispute.

This is ridiculous.

Even if you sent one to Joe Houser he could only authenticate that one.....not a whole group that were supposedly similar.

You simply can't do what you seem to be trying to do.

The only way a buyer can be sure the knife is legit is to have it authenticated after he gets it in his hands.

Then it's too late......if it's a fake he could be stuck with it.

People, offering to purchase a knife outside of the exchange forums is an infractionable offense in and of itself.

Gollnick is correct. No business should be happening here. This isn't a sales thread.

Get in touch with the good people at Buck or handle this privately with whomever you choose. The forums are not an auction house and the discussion threads are not the place to conduct your private business.

Keep all sale related discussion to the "Exchange" area of the site. Do not refer to sales or intent to sell outside of the "Exchange" again. Your paid membership does not confer carte blanche to break the rules here and continued infractions will put it at risk.
