Just wanted to write to thank Buck Knives for standing behind their product.

I've had my buck vantage pro for a over 4 years, in 3 months it will be 5 years.
The knife has been used for benchmark testing of S30v (so far highest edge retention of S30v) it has also been beaten, abused, used as a light pry bar, screw driver, whatever-cutter, and has seen it's better days. It was part of the first few runs that had bad liners which caused the blade to rock. The logo had fallen out a day or so after being new, it never did flip right; actually it never flip. I always kept it and kept prolonging to send it in because I used it often.

Well I just received it back from Buck Knives. Blade was replaced and is date coded 2015 (for sure replaced), Liners were fixed or replaced, and logo was applied. Best of all, it flips like a champ and finally lives up to the flipper function. Honestly looks like a new knife I can't find the marks from usage. Only things that are the same and I can identify is my pocket clip and screws.

Time for my buck to go back into my pocket.

Good news, Luis. I recently received my VP and use it in the foundry just about like you. I rip through cardboard to cut down boxes with ease, pick up hot things, scrape off digs on aluminum and wood.
So far so good.

Buck is great for warranty and awsome customer service. When i sent my buck 55 in for warranty the inlay was sepperating and after few weeks i contact joe and got in touch with the warranty department and the e mails were replied so quickly

I am happy that you got such great service from Buck!

They were very helpful to me when I had some questions about buying some of their NIB fixed blade knives.

Nice people - great knives!

Its funny. I come here and see this new post o the vantage pro. A few years ago I was seriously considering the VP but because of mixed reviews went with a BM Grip. Well the Father-in-law last week asked what I wanted for Christmas. Originally I told him maybe a Case pocket knife as I thought I might get back into collecting again. I haven't bougt much in knives past few years.

He usually spends around $55. but this year said he was planning on $100. So this has me reconsidering my Christmas knife and last night I was looking at the blue VP again.

Glad to know about Buck s customer service. My Vantage Pro is one of my favorite edc s.

I have become a small vantage carrier, I collect 300s but seldom carry one. Maybe a 309 in elk scale. I thought I needed a Vantage Pro, so I got a non-serrated blade, beige scaled version. I read an article on how to dye your scales with RIT dye so decided to try to dye mine bright orange. No camo scaled model for me, I would lose it in the leaves. It worked out fine, but about this time I noticed Buck had discontinued the version. I quickly went to the auction site and found me another for the future. When I need a bigger EDC knife I carry this one. I still carry my small regular vantages 90% of the time. 300Bucks

I've always loved the way yours turned out. Actually got the same model so I could dye my own but haven't done it yet. I need to find that thread and review how you did it. IIRC you didn't have to remove the scales. I've also been thinking about lime or dayglo green which I guess is another reason for my delay, indecision.

That thread is down the line somewhere. The thread I learned from was in Traditional Forum. I just plunked it in a SS pan of water and Rit dye I heated on the stove. Took pan off burner then plunked. I set it on it's back at first then turned it over a few times. Left it in 30 minutes. Took it out rinsed and dried. WD-40ed. After a couple of months re-dyed it again to enrich the orange before hunting season. Haven't touched it since. Did not dye my backup just to make sure I wouldn't want another color someday. They have gotten really hard to find. And Buck went all dark scales in current models....300Bucks
