This is my friends old Buck knife. He said his grandfather gave it to him about 1985 or so. Its been collecting rust in his toolbox for years. With his renewed interest in hunting came a renewed interest in this old knife. As you can see from the before pics, it was in pretty rough shape. The sheath was also rotted beyond repair. He gave it to me and asked me to clean it up for him so he could use it this deer season. He wanted a new kydex sheath too. Here it is. I gave it back to him at work this morning. He was pretty happy.

Scott, nice job:thumbup: 105s a good all round hunter.

Your friend should name the knife Lazarus...just kidding, it's good to see a Buck revived and put back into service. Preston

Excellent Job!!! Nice Kydex!! I love when an oldie cleans up nice

Thanks for the comments guys,
Yes, I made the custom kydex sheath for this particular knife. A replacement leather one might have been better for some, but he's seen my work before and wanted the sheath in kydex.

I get alot of satisfaction out of giving something with sentimental value to someone new life. In some ways I like it better than making a new knife. When I was a kid in hunting camp all the old fellas carried these Bucks. I wanted one in the worst way. I finally got one for Christmas when I was 16. Though I've owned 200+ knives since, including dozens I've made, I still carry that old Pathfinder every deer season. Its a ritual I suppose. I believe it brings me luck.

Anyway, I had a soft spot for this old knife, and we're good friends. When he asked how much he owed me, I said you're paid in full.

I gotta start charging or I'm never gonna get this business off the ground!

you should post this story in the buck stroy thread! it is worthy of it!!! :D

Thanks Dave,
I've owned many Bucks in my life. Currently I have around 12 or so. I posted a story a while back about the 110 I carried while in the Navy. I also carried a 120 General when I was stationed on Patrol Boats in the Persian Gulf during the tanker wars in the late 80's. Still have that one too!

I just bought my daughter her own 110 to carry this season. She wanted the folder instead of a fixed blade. I also bought a new 110 from the custom shop. Stag and Nickel. NICE! I had a custom pouch sheath made for it. I'll post some pics here on the Buck forum when I get some time.

Scott
