Well I've been collecting knives for about a year now so I thought I would post up some pics of my collection. I'm not a rich man (especially since I started this "hobby") so most of my knives cost around $50, and all of them are under $100 (with the exception of the Nakamura which was about $110).

Group shots:

Cold Steel Finn Bear - I know there is a lot of drama on here regarding CS, but I'm not big on fixed blades, I just wanted something for a camping trip and this worked fine for the $10 it cost me:

Spyderco S:

Byrd Meadowlark - For when I'm dressed up/wearing black:

Byrd Finch - Often used as a keychain:

CRKT M16-10Z - This is the knife that got me into collecting and led me to this forum  :

CRKT Ashworth Turtle - Been using this as a money clip for a few months now. Everybody that sees it LOVES it:

Boker Trance - The $30 knife that makes it hard to justify the others:

To be continued......

And the Kershaws:

Kershaw Rainbow Leek - My sister constantly tries to steal it:

Kershaw Groove - The knife that got me hooked on UNassisted flippers:

Kershaw Cyclone - Beefcake, this is my heavy duty worker:

Kershaw Nakamura - GORGEOUS knife IMO:

Kershaw Composite Junkyard Dawg II - My new pride and joy, got it a few days ago and haven't been able to put it down:

I know the pics aren't that great but I hope some of you enjoyed it. This is NOTHING compared to some of the collections that you guys have, but I thought some people might be interested and I think I've made some fine choices in my price range.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about any of the knives, but I'm sure you all know more than me :D

Very nice start you have there.

If you have not started shopping for a sharpening system yet, now would be a great time. Stones, diamonds, sharpmaker, edge pro, lansky???? Lots of great choices.

Nothing wrong with any of those.

You should give your sister the Leek. :)

That's an excellent price range to shop in, especially for new Collectors or Accumulators interested in owning a wide variety of knives. In that range you can buy knives from almost any company, any style, any material class, and even enter the world of customs.

I'd rather have three $100 knives than a single $300 knife!

Thanks for sharing photos of your collection.

I've had a Sharpmaker for a while now and I love it. Didn't think it was pic-worthy, hehe.

Come Christmas I just might. Besides, then I can replace it with a CB Leek :D

I too would rather have a bunch of cheaper knives rather than one really expensive one (obviously). If I could afford to have this many $300 knives, I probably would.

But I find there are TONS of awsome options in my ~$50-$100 range. I've still got a whole bunch of knives in this price range on my "wish list". There is one I will eventually splurge on though and that is a Kershaw Tyrade. I don't know if the books are open in the Kershaw Mafia, but count me in!

Good collection Dekz! I gotta agree with Bob...there are a lot of excellent values out there for under $ 100. Almost all of my EDC knives are $ 150ish or less...my two favorites being under $ 100.

But mark my words, there will be a day when you pull the trigger on a sebbie, a ZT or a nice custom! :D

Keep it up!

Nice collection! The $100 and under range is really the sweet spot for me. There's so many great knives to be had at the price point. Kershaws, Spydercos, Benchmades, nearly every brand has plenty of knives in the range with great quality.

good start Dekz; now how about a few Traditional pocketknives !
if you do ebay, there's a huge selection to choose from, often won for under $20. Stockman, Whittler and Jack knives are some of my favourites. many manufacturers to choose from. i like older Schrade USA (not new China Schrade) knives, usually inexpensive(if patient), huge variety, well made, great history. yep, knife collecting is fun, and just as much with regular production ones as with high end Customs. roland

I really want to try a Benchmade and see if they live up to the axis lock hype. I also wouldn't mind getting my hands on a real Spyderco; My S has some blade play but I got it cheap on ebay so who knows.

If you want to try out a Spyderco, I'd suggest the Tenacious. Under $50, but is supposed to be very nice. For a benchmade, obviously you should get the griptillian.

Based on my own purchases, I think you'll be very happy with an Axis Lock from Benchmade. I have a few older Spyderco knives and each has blade wobble that ranges from a small amount to a LOT. My Benchmade Griptilian has none at all.

Another knife in the same style that you might like is the AG Russell Featherlite. It's very lightweight as the name implies, has an interesting lock mechanism, and is very well made from quality materials.

If you're a fan of Kershaw, I suggest you try the E.T. There's no other knife like it anywhere.

I thought about buying a Tenacious, but I would be buying it just to buy a Spyderco, not because I actually want it. In fact I'm not really interested in many Spydercos at all. The only ones that even remotely appeal to me are the Lava and the Poliwog, but I'm not willing to pay ~$90 for either. I mean absolutely no disrespect to Spyderco knives, I'm sure they are great, they must be to have such a large and loyal fanbase, but I just can't shake this feeling that I don't "get it". I feel like I SHOULD like/want a Spyderco, but I just......don't. Maybe they feel the same way about Kershaws?

The Griptilian has been on my list for a long time. But everytime I have enough cash for a new knife, I end up buying something else instead. I would really like to try out an Axis lock, everybody raves about them, but I can't justify buying the knife based on the lock alone.

I just checked out the AG Russell Featherlite and it's just not my style. I hate the look of those handles, reminds me of a Delica/Endura. In my opinion they look like junk $10 knives with plastic handles. Again, I'm not saying that they are bad knives at all, they just don't appeal to me asthetically.

The E.T. is a cool little knife. I played with one in the store once and determined I would probably only end up cutting myself, lol. It's very unique and I like it, but it's not something I would carry very often, and therefore also keeps getting pushed down my list.

There, I think I've probably managed to piss off 90% of the forum and in only 1 post :D

regular knives ie... jacks, trappers, stockman need to have one locking blade. They are out there but hard to find. Anyone have a Tony Bose stockman? I have one but need a beat-up one to carry. Best "regular" knife I have ever owned.

Nice collection !

I,d like to hear about The spyderco S .. Is that the model # ?
Is it very light as it appears to be ?

Just anything you have to say about it id, like to hear

Nice collection you' ve got there! How much did that Spyderco ''S'' cost? I thought they ran for around $100?

NGK has them for ~$62 listed as SC109SLP (Silver handle, like mine), and SC109BKP (Black handle)

It is indeed very, VERY light. It's a very cool knife but does have a few limitations because of the design. I wouldn't cut any food or anything with it because you will be cleaning it out of the blade for a week. Like I said, mine does have a bit of blade play but I got it on ebay for $45, I'm not sure if mine is a bad example or if they all are like that.

Excellent collection and photos!

You know, if you really like something, price is not the issue. If and when you have more to spend, you will. Even then, you might wonder why you're doing so... In the mean time, I would encourage you to collect, sell, and trade in whatever price range is comfortable.

A dozen years ago, I had mostly inexpensive folders. Until this year (and largely thanks to BladeForums), I had only a couple of fixed blades. There's always a whole new world of knife collecting right around the corner.
