First off, I had been wanting one of these for quite some time, but always ended up spending the knife budget on larger, fancier and generally more expensive knives. Recently when BF put the T shirts up for sale, I bought a couple and had them throw an EDC plainedge into the box to keep things balanced
if you know what I mean.
Well it arrived yesterday and I am truly amazed that Camillus can make and sell this knife for around 50.00!
1. Open the box, knife is shipped with the blade well oiled against corrosion and sealed in a little ziplock bag.
2. Check out overall fit and finish, Perfect! Every detail that I looked for was right on, blade centered, lockup tight, finish of blade and handle slabs right on the money, chemical etching of the blade is smooth, even and attractive. The blade is spaced with what looks to be teflon spacers--action is hot buttery smooooth.Clip design is attractive and very secure in the pocket. The black accented screws and clip seem much more attractive to me than past plain or golden accents. That is personal taste though.
3. The blade came sharper than any knife that I have purchased in years. Good grind lines on the blade, and they went as far as to put a polished (buffed) final finish on the edge. That is a small thing to be sure, but on the 50.00 range I think it is a big deal! The recurved shape of the blade makes it seem and cut like a much larger blade. Very good cutting ability too.
4. The ergonomics of the knife are sweet also. The knife is smallish in the hand. Although being the same length as my Native, the EDC carrys much smaller due to its thinner profile and narrower design. I have had to figure out how to hold it to open it though. I have very large hands and the EDC is small enough that it takes some adjusting to get the proper grip. I am sure this will happen, since there is an adjustment period for me with any new shape and size knife.
All in all this knife is SUPER!!! I love it. I was looking for another smallish knife of good quality to use in the public eye without scaring anyone. This knife is just the ticket. This knife is by far the best buy anyone could hope to get for a small EDC type knife, plus it is tough as nails!!!! Buy one, you will NOT regret it!!!!!!!!!!
