First let me apologize up front for the lack of pictures, i had my digital camera, took pictures and when i lost my knife i ruined my camera.... heres the story......

So i had planned to to take a picture for the competition i started, not as an entry, its just what i had in mind when i started it. I took a wooden board about 12"x12" put nice rocks around the edge and dirt on the bottom, then i made a teepee on the wood platform with small sticks and wood shavings i also punched a hole in the board and tied some 550 cord to it. i set the wood on fire and pushed the floating fire into the lake with my bk11 stuck in board by the fire. the board floated well so i got ready for the picture, pushed the board out, tied to a lanyard. I took a picture and my knife fell off the board into the lake. it was 50 degress but i still went in the lake after my precious piece of metal, never hesitating to drop the camera or take off my shoes lmao. I retrieved my bk11 just fine though.

So im out a nice camera which cost over 5 times the amount of the knife, but at the time the knife seemed like all that mattered, the wife disagreed ;)

Even with my lack of thinking, the trip was a blast. i did some fishing, but caught nothing. which never matters to me, i simply love sitting by the water. I did the wood proccessing with my ontario sp8 but for everything else the bk11 was the ticket. I think now i need a bk9 for chopping as this .25" sp8 blade is a bit much, it still worked but it works better at batoning even with the sawback.

All in all a great weekend, The biggest issue was having to come back to the city.

That sucks about the camera, but we all know that a brand new camera is old technology in a matter of months, and as such is a great opportunity to upgrade ( excuse to wife for a new one ) ....lol, however your BK-11 will remain top notch for many years....

BTY: your memory card will probably be good once it dries out.... I have accidently washed several cards over the years and they continue to work. I even dropped my Sony p&s in the lake, took it back to the truck, put the defroster on and dried out the camera and it still works... I did have to take it apart though when I got home to blow out fine sand that found its way into the body, but it still works.....

DAMN IT!!!!!! i didnt even think about the memory card and chunked it into the lake with the camera in a fit of rage. the camera was soaked and had water all in the battery compartment. i felt there was no use trying to dry it, well actually i didnt think got mad and chunked it as far as i could, but that sucks i could of atleast saved the pictures.

And your correct, it seems even if you get the best camera you only have a week or 2 before something comes out better, but i want more knives more than another camera :) ill use the wifes if she will let me now lol.

Just before you did that, did you say "Hold my beer and watch this"?

That's usually what is said before such things take place.

LMAO, no my flask of crown royal was in my bag thru it all and only slightly empty by this point :) Plus im not big on handing my beer to anyone......

I do a fair bit of fishing and use my camera outdoors, best thing I did was to buy one of the new waterproof and shock proof cameras, underwater shots are fine as is swimming with the camera, they dont take fantastic pictures indoors and in low lighting but outdoors pictures turn out ok, well for me anyways, mine is already abt 3 yrs old and still going strong, plenty of newer models these days, perhaps might be worth a look?

Sounds like you might be a serious photographer so forgive Me if I'm telling you to suck eggs

I would have saved the 11 as well, just instinct lol :D I'm surprised my camera that got completely soaked (not submerged but wet in every way but that) over the weekend still works, and yes save memory cards I managed to save pictures that I had in drenched cameras before.

LMAO im not a serious anything........

And the more i think about the memory card the more i regret throwing it into the lake. Honestly mostly for the pictures of my kids as you cant replace some memories, but the knife pictures would be nice too.

Wow man!!!

What bad thing, but I think I would have done the same (Although my wife would want to kill me:))! I hope soon be with a camera again...

Yea my wife was pissed, but for now im just gunna use her camera so im sure that will excite her some more :)
