OK so here it goes I need some input...this knife is my favorite most of the time , I posted some generic questions in the general forum but I just ended up buying more upgrades for instead of replacing it . Its like a old friend you just don't give up on him cuz he's not as fast, strong ,or sharp as the other guys. BUT!!! He has always been there for you when you needed him. Anyway so every upgrade I buy for this knife doesn't fit rite or has to be modified to fit, there's some kinda heat treat problem with the steel I have been told ,the blade is undersized compared to all the rest I have seen, and it doesn't have the hammering pomel thingy. With all that being said the only real problem I have is should I convex the blade or not because as it is I have the hardest time getting this knife sharp and keeping it that way so being new here and having had looked around a bit you guys seem to be the ones I need to be asking for advise. I don't need a six hundred dollar knife to baby and not scratch in the woods I need one that works and one I know I can depend on. That for me has been this one thus far I just want to make it better. So any and all advise is welcome and sincerely appreciated.
Thanks

I convexed mine. I've heard the heat treat stories before but this knife takes a scary sharp edge and holds it quite well. I bought this one back in the day and will never sell it.

I pulled the micartas off mine just yesterday and put them on my RSK MK2 cuz I bought some lam grips for it I hope they fit
:(

Rumor has it is that because its under sized in thickness its faster in the hand a better slicer but still thick enough to be a good chopper too sound accurate or is some one trying to juice me up?

It really doesn't feel that much different to me in the hand, but you have a good knife for sure.

OK I dug this one up to let you guys know where I'm at with this knife now. I have purchased a new BK2 not because I think they are better or because I feel that I will break this one, but because I can't bring myself to modify this one any further. In fact I feel the need to put it back the way it was I still have the box and all its contents and the original grips, with the new china camillus coming out I think that this knife and others like it are all that's left of a dieing breed. She has served me well a deserves a rest I realize that there are tons of these in the field but to me this 1 cannot be replaced. With that being said does anyone know where I can have the closest facsimile of the original finish put back on?
