Hey Hogs,

I was fortunate enough to have a fellow forum member and excellent kydex bender proxy for me during the big Ganza. Major thanks to you brother! I was able to score a long sought CGFBM. Of course I had to buy some quality pants too keep it classy. While I wait around for my sheath to arrive -- I decided it was time for a special treatment for my Mistress. So I took real good care of her. Sharpened her at 19 degrees per side with a .5 micron apex. It whittles a single hair strand into several. It's perfect and ready to slip right in some kydex before I take her out for her first thrashing.

Damn, looks good dude. Your getting pretty good at those mirror polish edges! Love the CGFBM, it's on my wish list.

Rob:
Can you offer any more insight as to how the edge was put on to get that mirror! Inquiring minds just got to know! TIA

If you get bored with that one, I'll be happy to take it off your hands. Excellent work

That's GORGEOUS Rob!!!! ---
Oh now I'm getting all antsy again... Still waiting on mine from the Ganzaaa... :grumpy:

They need to make the CGFBM in Satin-I would guess it would be rather expensive, and I would also guess it would end up being one of their all time Best Sellers, Congrats Rob

Looks great, nice work.

It's surprising to me that a 19* per side edge bevel did not come up higher into the main blade bevel. I wonder if these 'Ganza blade were ground with a little narrower edge angle than is typical?

How do you know that the edge apex is 0.5 micron? That's not something that most people measure or comment on.

Indeed - put meltdown treatment on the talon and pommel, maybe the main part of the spine too...and I would pay obscene gobs of $ for it. /drool

Back on topic: beautiful edge!

I think it means 0.5µm grit size using an Apex Edge Pro model (ETA: I stand corrected). I use similarly fine diamond lapping film when I get obsessive.

Thanks Guy!

Yea compared to a lot of my older Busse knives, the edge was noticeably thinner. I have balsa wood strops with a .5 micron paste --- essentially after fully and carefully stropping --- the apex should be .5 micron thick.

I use the Wicked Edge Field & Sport Pro model with accessory stones, ceramics, and balsa wood strops.

I start with 100 grit diamond stones, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200 ceramic, 1400 ceramic, 1.4 micron ceramic, .6 micron ceramic, 5 micron balsa wood strop, 3.5 micron balsa wood strop, 1 micron balsa, and finally .5 micron balsa wood strop.

 Cloven Hoof Salute to you, sir! I'm way too lazy for all that.
