It's rather large but well balanced. :D

I'll take it out for a beating on Sat. :)

Perfect for buttering your toast in the morning :p

I will hopefully get mine on Saturday.
Hope the one I recieve is also well balanced.
Who made yours? I was going to use mine to carve
the Thanksgiving turkey:D

Ryan

Mine's by Durba. I've already smacked the tang on a piece of wood repeatedly. Also stuck it in a vise and bent the thing back and forth. I think you're gonna like yours :D

Seriously for a change, I'm very pleased to see the tang testing program in effect. This is the season but it looks like we may have only one this year rather than four. They should have failed by now if they are going to fail.

Is it the $300 I sent with a threat or just the threats!

I got both a Chitlangi and a Chiruwa. Both are made by Durba. I was very pleased with the weight and feel of the Chitlangi. It is an excellent weapon. The Chiruwa surprised me, I thought it would be much heavier, it is going to be a perfect hiking/camping companion. I will test them both thoroughly this weekend. I have one question for anyone who could answer it. Would mineral oil be okay to rub on the wood handles to help remove the jewlers rouge and to preserve them?

The mineral oil sure won't hurt anything unless perhaps you are gonna shoot for Walosi's oiled finish later down the line.

What kind of chiruwa did you get?
Chiruwa just designates the style of handle, ie the one with slab handles versus the solid handle.;) :)

Looking forward to the report of the Chitlangi for use in the woods.
It's not an AK, but it sure isn't a slouch either. :D

I got a Chiruwa Ak it is about 16 inches overall, should be a good lopper. The Chitlangi is definitely a beaut ;) I sure am glad you all talked me into it instead of the Chainpuri. I think the next khuk will be either a Hanuman or 25" sirupati. Who know with me :D
Yvsa thanks for answering the mineral oil question :)

Ryan

Take your time. If you tend towards woodchuckery you may want to take a look at the Hanuman.

You're welcome Ryan.
You're gonna love the way the Chitlangi cuts like a much heavier khukuri. The speed it builds up on a swing is breathtaking!!!!

The Hanuman is way too big a knife for me personally. The handle on it is about the same or perhaps even a little larger than the UBE.
And the Hanuman is one I feel the kamis went way overboard in their 'improvements' on.
A little larger and more heavily fullered blade would have been fine, but personally I prefer the old style that was slimmer and thinner with an extremely comfortable handle on it.
The Hanuman Special that 3 others and myself has with the WW II blade is more than a delight to hold and behold.

However Uncle Bill is correct that the Hanuman would be an ideal woodchucks knife.
I can't imagine that Walosi's super UBE has a handle any larger.
Maybe the Hanuman should be next in Walosi's lineup. No telling what kind of grain lies behind the Monkey God's eyes.;) :p  :D

Until I get the next khuk, At least until after X-mas :( It's okay these two should be able to hold off the so called HIKV for some time. By the time that I get enough cash saved to get another khuk I will probably want something else besides the Hanuman or sirupati. Thanks guys.

I don't know about a fullered blade of his choice, but you might be able to request a really nice piece of burled wood.;) :p  :D HEE HEE, sorry Bro, it just slipped out.:)

HE CANNOT TORMENT ME, FOR MY MEDS ARE STRONG. I do have to go out and get some more Tru Oil, though. That burl really soaks it up :D

You can tell he's a woodchuck because he knows how to rub it in.

And when I get a few more years on me I hope to be as good at rubbing things in as you both are.;)

Seriously I wish our Bro Walosi was still up to carving wood as well as finishing it.
Every now and then I run across an exceptionally beautiful piece of burly hardwood and Walosi always comes to mind.
I can imagine his excitement at getting one of those rare pieces of burly Bois D'Arc that when sanded to an extra fine grit really needs no other finish as is one thinks and then after a few coats of oil it turns into a piece of wood that you can't tear your eyes away from.
Y'all know what I'm talking about.:)
