Decided to treat myself to this for Christmas ..... okay, so it's not quite yet Christmas .... but since it arrived today, it went straight into my hands rather than under the tree!!!

A rare early Allen Elishewitz Phalanx:

Scales are carbon fiber, blade and rear bolster are Chad Nichols Reptile stainless Damascus, and the liners are anodized and orange-peeled. Both the action and button lock are silky smooth!

And a very Merry Christmas to you too! Also have a new Mnandi coming too ...... but that's for another forum area!!!

Thanks all. She is sweet, that's for sure. Eventually, will get around to trying to find out exactly when Allen made this one. I keep searching, but haven't been able to find another one configured exactly like this. It's my first button lock of his and let me tell you, is it ever smooth. Also, even though the CF is smooth, the texture of the deeply etched rear bolster and heavily orange-peeled liners make this thing just stick in your hand (without being uncomfortable). Not real crazy over the clip style, but it's okay. Had it out today to gently refine the edge. That's one thing I've noticed on deeply etched Damascus .... the "from the maker" edge is not as refined as with non-Damascus blades. Even though this one was previously owned .... it is virtually mint .... with the original edge. Didn't want to take off very much steel .... but did want to remove some of the microscopic chips and grinding scratches. She looks really nice now and the edge bevel is really no different than original .... just more refined and polished. Allen does some great work .... and I am becoming a big fan of some of his earlier pieces.
