I just got back from picking up my new press from Ron. I got to spend the weekend with Ron building billets talking knives and business...and of course, learning the press. Got to spend Friday there too with Larry Kemp.....I learned too much from them and I still have a bit of a headache.

Do you all like the Smurf blue color? I have renamed Ron from Bowie to Papa Smurf!

The press is great.....I have it all set up in the shop and will give it a go this weekend!

Here are some pics:

Here is me destroying Larry's mosaic just before showering Ron and Larry with molten steel (sorry again Larry!)

All my machines are very sad :(

Nice press. I'm not too clear on the squaring dies. Are they mostly just for "squaring up" odd shaped material?

Nice lookin press! It looks very well built and should last for years.

The squaring dies are used for keeping cannister damascus square too avoid the pattern from getting shifted. They can be used for welding like IG says. You will want to make several sizes of squaring dies also drawing, flattening, tapering and specialty dies for advanced mosaics such as radial patterns.

What rpm is the motor and what is the gpm output on the pump?

She's a beauty, Greg. You have all the nice toys....:(

:D

I got it all wired up and crushed some Coke cans with it......tomorrow will am gonna weld some chainsaw.

Bruce....I am not sure of the exact specs on the motor rpm and output.....I can ask Ron for ya.

It was a great weekend and I cannot say enough about the wealth of knowledge I acquired from Ron.

He's not too shabby for a fat, ornery, white haired old fart, is he? Bowie, bud, I sure hope you read this! Be no fun if you don't!

Greg, you got a good piece of equipment, built with a lot of years thinking behind it, and utter concern for its quality and performance. Have fun.

Glade you got it set up Greg cant wait to see some steel you make with it . and im hoping you have lots of fun in the process.call if I can help.

Thanks Ron for the kind words. My big hammer is a 100#, the small one is a 25# both Little Giants.
And yes we can share patterns.
You sure do make a killer press Ron :)

Beautiful press! Ron you do great work. I was saving my pennies for one of yours, but that would have taken quite a few years at the rate I save.
Greg, I am jealous! We look forward to seeing some beautiful work out of that machine!
