Hello everyone!

After having too little time to come here and be active lately (thanks, life! ;) ), I thought I'd throw in quick first image of my 2014 custom knife loot (will try to add descriptions and single images later this week, which should finally hold some spare forum time for me again).

I snapped this image (throwing most of my 2014ers together on a pile) for the CKCA forums back in October; there have been some slight changes in the lineup in the meantime:

Since I did not get any studio time at all over the last few weeks I am way behind my "personal collection shots" schedule. I did find some free time at home though, just messing with my play-around-home-setup and non-calibrated netbook (:o ). So here I can share some snaps of additions after the group image above was made, as well as one or two outtakes of knives that are allready included above.

First, here's a wonderful piece Jeff Ware made for me (my EDC atm) - it's a Navaja-build, sporting semi-translucent bulls horn and stag scales, a shield made made from an old spanish silver coin and a non-decorated O1 blade with french-gray finish (since it is designed as a user and will hopefully keep rainbow patina away for some time  ). The bulls horn sections are underlayed with gold and produce an amazing warm glow, that I could not even touch in the following snap:

Here anoter brilliant one by my friends the Sobrals, a stainless-San-Mail build with beautiful stag. Does not need more words, imho. ;)

Then of course was the greatest gift ever - THANKS so much again to Claudio, Ariel and the rest of the family! Though included above this needed to go in the starting post as well! :)

The next few pieces were all made for me by my friend Milan Mozolic. He is the one single maker I got most knives from this year. Milan really does make very clean knives and his fit and finish is excellent.

This one was his first ever framehandle knife. It's a smaller knife and sports giraffe bone scales.

The next one is his extended-clip-EDC build with black micarta scales.

Another small utility (will go to a friend for christmas):

The following ones were allready included above. Here is a clean stag hunter:

And a damascus fighter:

These two were included above as well. It's a great set of UTEs, Keith Fludder made for me earlier this year. These two will get more time on their own a little bit later with proper studio images. Love them both, also the sheaths Keith made (will show them later as well):

More images and descriptions to come (hopefully soon).

All the best,

That's a good year and than some :)

holy shit, man! What's your address again ;) :)

Alex, I sure enjoyed seeing so many pieces by makers that I am not so familiar with.. Very impressive, and you should be proud... Thank you for letting us have a look... Regards, Rich Slaughter

I agre with Rich. Many names there that I am not familiar with but WOW what a great collection and what a great one year acquisition. With Jon and you and hopefully others showing the great knives you have added this year is so exciting that I keep jumping into BFC before looking at email or anything just to see the great knives being shown. Wow! again, guys this is Xmas before Xmas -- knife show extraorndinaire. Thanks for posting and we eagerly await the next edition of the single images which I am sure will a look great.

I have to say, I was quite taken aback at first sight. That is a breath-taking spread! Bravo, and thank you for sharing.

Hello!

Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment, guys! :) Much appreciated! This year has been a pretty wide spread for sure. ;)

Lorien my friend, I take it you want to send one of your sweet hatchets my way, do you? :D ;)

Rich, Murray, one of the most interesting things for me about collecting knives is the great diversity of fields and interests as well! I love to see what everyone else is collecting and get a lot of inspiration from the great threads posted here myself. Glad you could find something you like as well! :)

Slapped 20 more knives on the home setup a few moments ago but only had the time for three quick conversions. So here goes for today.
[again, not "real" studio quality, just playing around]

First up is a breathtaking piece by Dave Lisch - wonderful damascus, wonderful popcorny stag and that ingenious split ring design make this one of my dearest knives of the year for sure!

Next up, Milan Mozolic again, W5 (with the faintest of hamons) and lignum vitae Bowie with a delicate apleseed-like grind. Clean and meticulously built!

Last one for today is a spectacular Damascus Dagger by Salem Straub. Great to me in every way:

More to come soon.

All the best,
Alex

Congrats Alex very lot of and beauty knives this year .Cas, Mcghee , Lynch ,Hanson ........ :triumphant: Exceptional knives

DANG Alex! What a layout! I was kind of floored when that first pic popped onto my screen. Great stuff there, some of my favorite makers and great pieces by them at that. Your photography is looking very good too... thanks for posting this. I'm honored that a couple of my pieces are in that most august company.

Hello!

Merci, Allain! I can only hope to be able to get a collection half as impressive as your's one day, mate!

Salem - thanks for the kind words, bro! Enjoying your wonderful pieces a lot!

Here are a few more from yesterday's session:

My first McGhee - Scott's Puma in wonderful desert ironwood. I was lucky to get the last great piece of ironwood Scott had at that time and it really makes the knife look special:

Milan Mozolic again - sleek and fast fighter in unusual green micarta; W5 again:

Here's another addition to my Take-No-Kami collection; exceptional integral Bamboo-handle pieces by Michel Meyer (aliaswonder). Very organic and sinister looking. I used to EDC another one of his for about a year and can report to the Bamboo holding up without any problems or flaws so far (yes, also been dropped by accident... ):

A really cool piece by John Cohea. Was lucky to get one of his mini pipe Hawks around the time of Blade and love every bit of it. John's style is so distinctive, you could make it out with closed eyes from 10 miles away. Will include his great sheat later on as well. Love the ancient ivory fittings for this one:

Here's one great piece I was able to take out of Lorien's hands earlier this year, a great Khukuri by Stuart Branson. Thouroughly tested by Lorien allready, it served me well in the woods as well this year. Still in great shape:

More to come soon.

All the best,
Alex
