here is a quick picture of what i have done to my cold steel spartan. I loved the knife when i bought it but that gross powder coat had to go. I turned it into a satin finish blade and then i thought about how i didnt like that hump on the back of the blade, so i took that off. Then i started to dislike the "horns" on the bottom of the handle, so i rounded those down. So all in all it is now a beautiful bush knife. It has seen a lot of abuse and still hold up.

If you hadn't said what you did, and I didn't know what it looked like normally, I would have never know there was anything changed. It looks very natural. You did a very good job.

The only thing you could do with the Recon 1 is smooth the spine to clip point transition but I think they are really perfect as is.

i used a 1x30 inch belt grinder for the blade and my stone wheels on my bench grinders to do the handle, then sanded it down by hand, then high gloss polished the blade. There are no scratches where i took material off, looks like factory

Looks like the one I did.

Very cool, glad to see that bit at the end of the handle is gone, looks much better now, and more comfortable too

I have really big hands and I found that whenever I did chopping the horns on the end of the handle would really start to hurt my fingers, once I took them off I can get a really good extended grip on it and it doesn't hurt anymore. Just slap a lanyard on it if you think it will slip away and you are good to go

So-lo - that is fine looking.

Did you stone wash the blade or is that just the photo angle?

Etched and stonewashed, reprofiled and also rounded the spine. :D

Will also have a new larger lanyard tube, maybe a new clip. Still needs the liners and lockback etched and stonewashed. Then maybe a custom G-10 lanyard bead with the brown and orange liner in the middle. :D
