So im new here and i have posted a few times in the blade forums looking for a bushcraft blade (lookin for a 6in HC steel blade non coated blade) and i seen this category and i figured id show my cold steel trail hawk off. I put allot of time into it and i think it turned out good. To start of with i striped the head and removed the set screw. I re-profiled the edge to a less steep of a grind but not so much it would chip. I then sandblasted the head with glass and blued and polished slightly with steel wool. I then turned to the handle. I cut about 6 inches off the handle. I re-fitted it to the head because when i got it the set screw was in it and it was not tight on the end handle. I cut off the turning marks at the top of the handle and sanded all the rough edges. I allso sanded the the handle down to were it was significantly smaller than when i got it and added a lanyard hole with relief cuts. I then took the end handle to a belt sander and counter sunk a area for a wrapping. I wrapped he handle in bees wax impregnated twin from the amish down the road. Now to the finishing touch. I stained the handle with a walnut stain and sealed it with 50% linseed oil and 50% turpentine. After the coatings hardened and sealed i keep a layer of bees wax on the handle. And for a finishing touch i put a brass stud for are saddles on the top of the handle. For carring the axe i made a belt loop and a sheath out of leather. Hope yall enjoyed thanks allot.

I do believe they have an entire thread dedicated to modifying the Trail Hawk on this forum. It is a sticky near the top. Posting there would be a better idea, and more people would see your work.
