My collection is finally under control

Good job!

It’s critical to sell in order to build a quality collection. I have buddies who started collections of various types in childhood and refuse to sell anything. While they might have a neat story or memory associated with each item, their collections often look more like pawn shop junk. But then again, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure….beauty is in the eye of the beholder…etc.

You made me think about which ones of my folding knife collection will stay forever at this point for nostalgic reasons. This is also not really a list of my favorites, it is just the ones with some important memories attached.

CRK small regular because it was the first high end knife I bought many years ago
Microtech Socom small, fond memories about this knife, I just wish I had bought it without serrations
Benchmade Sentinal Elishewitz, early purchase in the collection
Shirogorov 95T custom division, my favorite
Puma General, my first real knife, bought because everybody I knew had a Buck 110
Lonewolf Defender, another important early purchase, with interesting deployment

I guess this list could change because there are a number of other knives in the collection that I am super fond of, only time will tell

I have tried in the past and failed but this year so far I have finally achieved one in, one out on the collection.
This year, I have added 20 knives and let go of 21, hoping the trend continues as my tastes in knives evolves.
Control is an illusion we create in order to dig deeper into that hole...

Boy can I relate, a little too late but tastes have changed, now I have to deal with this.

Woody,
I sympathize with your plight!
If you need help with that debilitating problem: I would be willing (as a great personal sacrifice!); to take 60% of those awful and unwanted knives off your hands! 😁

OH MY woodysone woodysone - I had no idea you are so ill - er  - passionate about knives. Wow, my Brother, think about all the knives you have yet to hold. Fortunately I can never get that deep. No storage room.👍 I'd love to have an open box viewing with you.
Ray after that last project you had commissioned I believe I’d be happy for quite a long time,🤔 but then again there’s a lot of makers out there that make that almost impossible. Shoot me a pm if you see anything that might interest you, always willing to keep the needs going.👍

I can't see the trees for the forest Martin. :)

You're way ahead of most of us with having everything organized in one location. I have only a vague idea of what I have and even less certainty about where many of them are.

Been watching the want to buy ads here on the forums trying to find individuals in need of any of them then floating a fair price, just sent off a Kershaw 777 nib for $700 and all were happy with the deal.
You dont have any CRK 21s you want to unload do you?

That’s okay-tastes will come around again and you’ll be sitting on a gold mine of Americana!

Eventually people will be desperate to get their hands on a Gil Hibben Dragon Lord to accompany their Tec-9 safe-queen.

You have a beautiful collection and you should be proud!
