After a two year wait, I just received my "Grail" knife, a Model 12-9 bowie. It has a Model 14 blade grind and a Model 25 stag and leather handle with brass trimmings. I added a lanyard hole and my initials to it:

This is my collection of Randalls as of now:

The 12-9 is on the left, followed by a Model 14 with saw teeth (This one also carries my initials), and then a Model 16 with sawteeth and finally a Model 10-3 with red micarta handles. I have a Model 5 on order from the Randall Shop with a delivery date of 2011:

mic214, you and I have thought a lot alike in the past. I've owned those same four knives (along with others) with some slightly different features:

Model 10 – maroon micarta handle
Model 12-9 – Black micarta handle, border patrol shape, nickle silver Model 1 style hilt, looks like a #14 on steroids.
Model 14 – Standard model, one of my sons owns it now.
Model 16 – Black micarta border patrol handle, nickle silver forward curved hilt, my other son owns it now.

Thanks for showing us your fine collection, and good taste!

Thanks guys.... While my collection does not have as many as a lot of other folks have, these work (and will keep working) for me. I got my first Randall (The Model 14) almost 30 years ago and it has never failed me yet. It is my main camping blade. The only added features to this blade are my initials, the sawteeth and finger grip handle

The Model 16 was picked up at a gun & knife show a while back (20+ years ago) and I use it for when I am out kayaking. The Model 10-3 is my box cutter, string slicer & envelope opener.

the Model 12-9 is my special treat to myself. I have a small place out in the mountains of New Mexico and this knife will now be my main "Outback" blade for when I am "Checking fences" on the ranch.

I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my Model 5 in 2011. I had the good fortune to actually visit the Randall shop in Orlando back in 2006 and, after several hours there, I ordered my Model 5. It is a basic Model 5 with a 5" carbon blade and stacked leather handle. I did add a few additions to it in the form of a Model 1 double brass hilt, and a brass buttcap with a lanyard hole. My initials will also be on this blade. I think it will round out my collection rather nicely!

I've got an order in with one of Randall's distributors for Nov 08 (but I understand these have been pushed back to Jan 09 now). I haven't decided what to get but am sneaking up on the time I need to get the details in. I'm thinking a 26-5, or possibly going back to my roots and getting a military model again (I currently have only one Randall – a #5-6 with a green micarta handle. I had given it to my new son-in-law two years ago (I've given a Randall to my two sons and sons-in-law) but he left my daughter and was wise enough to give back the things that mattered to family. I will either give the Model 5 or the knife I get in Jan to whoever she marries next. He's got to be better than the last guy.

Bruce,

We really do seem to have the same taste in knives. I was thinking on ordering another Randall through Nordic Knives. They have a delivery date of October of 2009 right now. I was looking at either a Model 1-6 or a Model 25-6....I just need to convince my lovely bride that I need ANOTHER one!

I think it is great that you give your kids Randalls. I think that would make a great wedding present for each of my kids just from "old dad".....

I had a couple of #1-6's also. One had a maroon micarta, border patrol shaped handle with brass hilt and buttcap. The other had a black micarta border patrol with a nickle silver hilt and duralumin buttcap and a black sheath.

I've purchased from Nordic before – great folks.

I usually buy from Greg Gutcher at Sullivan's Holster – he makes all the sheaths for Randall and is a dealer for them as well.

I had a 25-6 once before and now regret selling it. Maybe that's why I'm longing for another.

Yup, good choices!

Heres mine fresh from the shop to my door, today.
