I just moved to the northernmost part of Norway, in the county of Finnmark, 70th parallel north. The opportunities for hiking, fishing and hunting up here are great, and after I moved, my knife collection grew substantially. I try to keep the collection mostly utilitarian, but it's hard not to shop.

Here's my BK9, one of the finest blades I've ever owned. I stripped her down, and added micarta handles.

This is my Helle Laplander, a traditional Sami knife. The Sami people are the indigenous people of the northern part of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia, and they carry this large blade. I couldn't live where I do without owning one. And I quite like it, it's a good blade, as it's large enough to be a good chopper, but also small and light enough that it can handle finer tasks.

This is beloved Ka-Bar D2 Extreme fighter. A new and improved version of the classical Ka-Bar design. I love this knife so much, that it got a very special sheath from hedgehog leatherworks.

The Brusletto Hunter was my first real knife. This was with me during my time as a conscript in the army, and has followed me on almost every hiking trip since I was the tender age of 17. It's a light blade, easy to sharpen and works well. Got nothing bad to say about the hunter, it's just a bit bland after I discovered the diversity in the knife market.

Benchmade are awesome! I love that company, and I wish that I owned more than one of their products. The griptillian 551 serrated blade is my EDC knife. After getting used to the axis lock, it will be hard to use any other system.

Before I discovered the griptillian, the Leatherman c33t was my EDC knife of choice. It has a spring assisted opening mechanism, and it has a 1/4in Flat Screwdriver and a small Phillips Screwdriver. It also has a carabiner that also function as an useless bottle opener.

Not all knives are sexy, but some are. And the CRKT minimalist, is one sexy knife. I have it mounted on my day pack, and I love it.

And this is how I usually carry them on a day hike:

I am really satisfied with my collection so far. The only knife I'm really thinking about acquire now is a BK7. But I dont know. I also have a sheath upgrade on my BK9 in the horizon. Thanks for looking/reading!

Nice diverse collection, you have all the bases covered.
I like the Hella and Brusletto, they look like very usable knives.

Thanks, FTR. I agree with your estimation, the Helle and Brusletto are both usable utility knives. They were the first two I owned. And I guess you can say that they were the gateway knives that got me hooked on the blades. The Helle Laplander is a part of the Sami traditional heritage, that holds up even today. But it is sadly very exposed to rust and corrosion.

Looks like a very utilitarian collection for life up the in Finmark.
Helle and Brusletto being a proud part of Norwegian knifemaking, is a must for us up here I guess:)

Totally agree, Birnando. Until last year I thought all hunting/survival blades were like the traditional Helle and Brusletto knives. And even though I prefer my BK9 and Ka- Bar D2 over the Helle and Brusletto, I don't plan to get rid of em.

I am a bit worried how the harder steel, like D2 will handle the winter here in northern Norway. The fear I have, is that it might become very brittle in the extreme cold. I guess I'll find out.

Ah yes, that is a very good point actually, I haven't really considered that.
I do enjoy some winter camping myself, I'm gonna have to stress a few of my harder knives when the winter comes.
Here's hoping they'll hold up;)
