So I was taking a little break and decided to snap some shots of my kives with my grainy-out-o-focus digital cam!

Is a pretty modest collection compared to some. But I use each one of them, and each has its different purpose. I included the stuff I use to take care of 'em too, since there was a discussion about that earlier on the boards. I have tuned and sharpened each one and I am trying to get a good variety of quality user knives. I asked Santa for a flat ground Greco Wisper folder. He called me and said he wouldn't spoil the suprise, but he was excited about being entered in the CQC Knives holiday contest for some reason Wink Wink. :D

Basically the whole sha-bang including the Kukri I inherited from my Grand-dad.

My beloved SOG Multitools. I got a few people the Crossgrips and Crosscuts as holiday gifts...liked them so much I had to get one for myself:p

All my stuff for the endearing task of knife maintainence.

I think my Grandpa's kukri was old. All I know is he got it in India some time before I was born. This is the sheath, it cut the living carp outta my dad's hand when he first pulled it out.

This is it!!. The evil, blackhearted CRKT linerlock that failded on me and tried to take my poor fingers!!! Ruined me forever for linerlocks. You can see the pivot pin popped out when the liner traveled too far past the blade. Cutting griptape for a skateboard....boooo...hisssss!

Much to tell about each knife.
but I will just post the pics for now.
Ask questions if you are interested in my experience with them.

Feel free to join in and post your own pics or grumble about how there are a million other "post your collection" threads.

I am getting all my freinds and familiy knives for the holidays. I am dreaming of a sharp Christmas. Maybe make a few convert-knifenuts.

What do you think of the Benchmade Switchback? I really want to get one!

Also, do you ever carry the CUDA Maxx? Does it freak people out when you use it?

You got a couple of good ones there. 3 of which are on my want list. The Switchback, the Cuda Maxx and the 710. Thats a good start!! :)

The Switchback is a great knife!

Here is the thing. I hate to admit it cause I think it makes me more of a knife-nerd than a knife-nut. I name my knives....thats right. I give them names, different ones then the factory or maker calls them. Sometimes odd names, but it is sort of a tradition.

So the 921 I call "The Ambassador". I use it around people who are not accustomed to knives. I clean my figernails with the small blade. I open my mail and then stack up all my junk mail in a big stack, hold it up and cut it all in half with one stroke of that sharp warncliff. People seem to like it a lot, it is a good knife to get them interested in modern knives. I carry it almost everyday.

Then you can show them the Cuda Maxx....maybe.

I do carry the Maxx sometimes. I havent had it for long but I have used it for some quick beheadings of rice boxes and various package-evicerations. I have shown it to my relatives and they liked it a lot after I answered many questions. I carry it without the clip tip-up in my pocket. Everyone seems to get a kick out of the "wave" open trick.

Oh yeah, I call the Maxx "Humungus", after that badguy from Road Warrior with the jason-mask. I figured since the design was the Madd Maxx it would fit....and it is huge.

go ahead....make fun of me for naming my knives.:p

Just a suggestion, but your pics are very hard to see because they are too dark. You should adjust their brightness and contrast to make them more viewable. This is very easy to do with any photo program, including the one that comes with Windows. Here is what I did with your first pic using plain old Microsoft Photo Editor. All I did was adjust the brightness and the contrast.

My Win 98 came with something called Imaging for Windows and I sure don't see any way to do this.

That's a mighty fine khukri. I love it. Great collection. Start saving now, it seems you are ready to start your custom handmade collection :D

I have Imaging for Windows also with my Win 98, but I don't use it. If you right click on the image above and click on Save Picture As (or just find a picture on your computer). Once you do this, then just click on the file name that you saved it to, and it should open with Microsoft Photo Editor. At least mine does. I also have Adobe Photo Deluxe which can also be used to alter images.

thats an amazing kuk, nice looks

Yes, I definately agree.:):)

I've only been seriously into collecting/buying knives for this year, so my collection is small. I really want to add a kuk to it someday.

Just like you, I use or have used all my knives. The one on the far right is a handmade Brazilian light-brush cutting knife w/10" blade that my dad got for me when he went to South America. He only paid $10() at this guys knife shop...steel takes/holds an edge very well...I love that knife.

Warthog

Ah.
My apologies about the dark pictures. I work from a laptop wich basically increases the gamma to almost max so that the screen can be seen in outdoors or overcome glare. This makes the pics just right on my screen. It shouldt be so much of a difference that you cannot see things, but if your monitor is adjusted the other way the difference could be quite dramatic. I have about a bizillion graphics programs and will adjust them a bit when I get the chance, maybe eliminate some of the crappy grainyness.

The Kukri is a monster! My grandfather Walter passed away when I was 15. That X-mas we went to visit my Grandmother. My father pulled me into the garage and said my Grandpa got this in india a long time ago and wanted me to have it. I held it in my hand and it made me feel....MIGHTY. I think I may post these pics or a few more in the knife identification forum see if I can learn more. It is an insanely solid knife, you'd think with its apparent age some stuff would be loose or coming unattached, but I cant even feel the spaces between the metal and wood parts. Pretty elegant shape for a Kuk too.

Handmade and customs are certainly on the way. I am enjoying the selection process now almost as much as the actual aplication of the tools.

Nice collection Warthog. Hows that SOG vision, I am getting a vision of some sort for my dad this x-mas (whichever model I can find the best deal on...anyone wanna part with one?) He is a sucker for tantos and I got him hooked on SOG.
