My 1st attempt to chop bamboos with this blade shows poor results... instead of cutting it shatters the bamboo though the blade is really sharp... until i discovered the correct way of using it.... this is a badass knife.... with super thick spine that tapers to a thin point... the grind in the 1st 4 inches starting from the handle is like an axe... I split many logs with this grind...the next 4" is very useful in chopping logs... and the remaining edge up to the tip is the ideal edge for bamboo chopping..
the condor excels in shaving tinder... but in my whole blade carry... nothing beats my kabar Bk 10.
The Edge retention of the BK10 is superb... aside from bamboo shavings i also carved a number of feather sticks with it.
