I have a CRKT M16 02 with no flipper or lawks. Is this an older one? Worth more? I doubt it but just checking.

Old thread. Same question.
My m16-03 is the same... No flipper.

Anyone know anything?

I've carried the M16 series for years now. Here is what little I can tell you. I will assume you guys own the Zytel handled model.

The original Carson M16 knives made by CRKT did not have flippers. IIRC, flippers were a 2nd generation item. The LAWKS system came next with the AutoLAWKS after that.

There may have been a change in the blade steel at some point. I want to say there was, but not really sure. I can tell you that some of the knives with metal handles use a a slightly better grade of steel.

I have purchased more M16-02s and CRKT Prowlers than any other knife that I own.

Ok then i guess its just a older model, matt grey coated handle that feels like steel off some kind. It says Carson Design. I thought these where later design?

I have an original M16 it has matt grey anodized aluminum scales and I believe ATS34 blade steel has no flipper or LAWKS, a great knife it was my EDC for 10 years. Much better fit/finish/overall quality than the ones with flippers or LAWKS or auto-LAWKS.

My first M16 did not have all the extra junk but it did have a flipper. I bought the Zytel version to keep my cost down. Can't remember what kind of steel. I do have to agree with the brain,
fit, finish, and quality all have gone down as they have "improved" them.

Zytel came later, and they added a Z to the model numbers. I had one of the first iterations without a flipper and with aluminum scales. I actually wanted one with a flipper, as it was the first production knife to feature it, AFAIK.
