When I ordered my Sirocco from Matt, he had the Talonite for the blade, but was out of Timascus for the clip. He finished the knife with one of his Sculpted Ti clips, and promised to replace it with Timascus, as soon as he got some in. While I was waiting, I came up with an idea to add another dimension to his already artful design. I purchased a dark blue Topaz cabochon from Reese Weiland (along with some other gemstones for other knives). I asked Matt if he would try his hand at installing the cabochon in an area we both agreed on. Here are the results. This post contains the "Before" shots, and the next post is the result of Matt's handywork.

This is the final version of my Sirocco. Please let me know what you think.

I'm thinking you better not put that out on the table at the next NJKCA meeting! Somehow it may just find its way into my pocket! :D Very nice Ken!

I don't usually like gem stones on a knife, but this one is an exception. It is the perfect colour and a size that does not make it look garish or ostentatious.

I'm not sure I like the Timascus clip any more than the Ti one. The Ti one matches well with the rest of the knife and the Timascus one offers a nice contrast.

Thanks for all the positive comments!! I'm not used to that!!

Jim, it's a full Manual - All the way.

Gary, you're really slipping (or is it sleeping?). It was sitting on my table all day Sunday.

Keith, I looked long and hard for a stone that was Just Right!!Thanks.

Jeff, like I told Keith, it took quite a while to find the right stone, and as for the clip, I think it gives it a nice contrast. Thanks again for the compliments!!

Funny... are you sure? I could have sworn I slipped it in my pocket before the waitress brought our lunch. You better check that you still have it! :D

I love Matt's work and this one is outstanding. I have one of his knives and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Hey Gary,

You must have been at someone elses' table!! I just shot the "after" shots this afternoon - with the Canon!! Anyone else missing a knife?!?

Ken

WTF?? Matts installing cabochons now?? I never got the memo :( :D :p

Gary, scoop that puppy up and send it to me and I will reward you handsomely!!!!

Hey Jason,

Just finished sending you a PM on JD. Somehow I thought ypu might be interested. This was a personal favor that I asked Matt to do. I bought the cabochon from Reese Weiland and asked Matt if he wanted to try something "New". He did me a favor by saying, "Yes!!".

Looks like I'm one up on you for now! LOL ;)

OH! OH! I guess I will have to inconspicuously place this one on someone elses table at the next meeting. Ken, could you bring your Scirocco to the next meeting... I'd like to peruse Matt's work a little closer! (Think he'll fall for that, TBG?)

Eagleblade... I just did a quick count in my head... I think there were about 15 mambers at the meeting & loads of knives. Missed you, pal!

Spyken,

The Fizzed side is a light to medium greyish blue. The lock side goes fron the same blue to a purple on the frame lock itself.
