BE CAREFUL!! Don't cut off anything important in your excitement. :D Glad to hear it got here. I guess I'll just have to say "TOLD YOU SO!!" :D :)

Just wait till you get the deep carry clip on it.

okay, here we go: i was about to give up on the mail carrier! they normally get to my apartment very late, and today was no exception.

5:00pm rolled around, and i trotted out to the mailbox. nothing. 5:30. again, checked my mailbox. nothing. at 6:00, there was a knock at the door. i was sitting at the computer (it's in our living room). it was a girl with a box, and through my security door, she looked like she was selling candy. i rolled my eyes, and asked "yes?" she said she "had a package for me", and it was about that time that i noticed she was dressed in her USPS uniform. i ran to the door.

she needed me to sign for the package, which i did. the box was actually quite big, and my heart sank a little; i figured this wasn't my knife after all. however, it was odd that USPS would have me sign for a package (i never have before), so there was hope. i thanked her, closed the door, and headed for the dining room. under the light, i could see the sender: Dave's Knife World. elation swept over me like a wave!

the box was expertly packed: a large, tough brown box, then a foam bag, then peanuts, and inside was a bubble-wrapped box. it was quite large. i opened the inner purple CUDA box. inside was a catalog/pamphlet, a "care/maintenance" pamphlet, and a thick, padded zipper-pouch. inside that was my CUDA Maxx.

HUGE. that's the only way to describe it. just like many other forumites i've read about here, i laughed out loud at the size of it. the handle is indeed a blueish/purple hue, and sexy as heck. perfect lock-up, no blade-play when opened. everything is as it should be. the only gripe i might have would be the grinds being slightly uneven. one edge is ground higher than the other, and it makes the blade look slightly uneven when viewing the tip. it's minor, and i suppose it's understandable, considering how tough it must be to sharpen these guys. i've also read that they're hand-ground on a belt. tis the nature of the beast?

anyway, this isn't a review, just my first impressions and opinions. the Maxx is a great knife which will fit nicely into my EDC rotation. thanks to all BFCers who helped me to decide on this sweet slicer!

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! With any luck you will only like it better over time. The Maxx's looks are so impressive that it takes a while to learn how versatile and tough that monster is.

Have fun! And welcome to the "club". :D

allyourblood - let's see a picture showing it's size relative to your hand, or something that truly represents its scale.

congrats on the killer purchase (literally)

Yep, now all you've got to do is learn to open the knife without getting a silly grin on your face. :)

I know I still get that silly grin on my face and give a little evil chuckle whenever I snap mine open.

Man, that thing is a beast! :) I might have to get one.. I got the Dominator as I figured I'd be more apt to carry it around more. That MAXX would get funny looks and I'd feel a bit nervous going out in public with it. I noticed the grinds on my Dominator aren't that great either, but other than that it's great.

and yet, for its size, the thing is very light. it's also very tight, in it's movement, and assembly. it doesn't feel at all "sloppy" or "cumbersome" like i thought it would.

unlike all of my other knives, i have to agree with the majority of you: i would not risk whipping this out in public to cut an apple, or nick an errant thread from my clothes. someone's bound to call the cops. however, i will carry this bad-boy often. it cuts like a razor (better than some other production folders i've bought), and slices so cleanly, you'd think it was a much smaller knife. now that i have it, i'm wagering i won't ever part with it. everyone's "gotta" have a BIG knife, and this is it. i think i'll tote the Maxx as well as a 3-4 incher as my new EDC, and see how that rides.

something to think about for prospective buyers: i was an idiot, and put this in the same pocket as my keys. this is usually not an issue; my other knives, including my Endura are not long enough to come in contact with my keychain. the Maxx however, is. after a few hours it dawned on me, and switched my keys to my left pocket for the remainder of the day. i examined the butt of the frame, and found that the anodization had been scratched here and there, ever so slightly from rubbing against my keys. not a big deal, and not really noticeable, but it's something i'll have to remember.

great pics abe!!

roger that on the "knife separate from keys" rule.

Glad to here there is another happy Cuda MaxX fan. The knife is awsome. I liked my Cold Steel XL Voyager didn't think there could be a better knife. Then the Sifu came out and it was great, bigger than my Voyager but made with better materials. Only problem was it was a little heavy and carried kind of high in my pocket. THEN......the Maxx, comes along it's big but it carries low in pocket it's slim handle is great you hardly notice the pocket sword, awsome materials..very strong lock about the only thing that would be better is the Maxx Gibs :D
