This knife is designed as a one-hand opener, correct? Does the thumbstud actually work for anyone? I can't get the damn thing open with it. I'm sure most people prefer the flippers anyway, though. Also, did you find it akward to open and close the knife at first? I am now. I'm not worried about it, because I've had the same thing happen with several other knives, but I eventually got used to them all and I'm sure I will with this one.

When I took the knife out of the box... fastest cristening ever. Allow me to explain: A while ago, I said to my friends (who know I'm a knife nut) that a knife is not truely mine until it's drawn my own blood. This was said as a joke, but pretty soon I began to notice that most of my knives do end up drawing my blood at one time or another (accidentally, of course, but I'm not sure that says much more for my intelligence than it would if I intentionally cut myself), so I have been slightly more serious about that lately, but it's still mostly a joke. Anyway, when I opened the knife, I felt the edge of course. I know most of you are familiar with the knife newbie who rubs the blade and is suprised to be cut because he's never held a real knife, but I'm experienced with hair-popping sharp knives. Still, though, about five seconds after the box was opened the first word I said was "WOW!" as blood began to flow from my thumb. So, I give this knife one and a half thumbs up! ...It would be two, but uh... I'm kinda missing a little bit of thumb at the momment.

You said it, I didn't.........
Now think back to the self-surgery ordeal....
(very loud sound of clearing throat) ;)
At least you're learning.

Well, that was for a purpose, to remove the cyst. I meant it wouldn't be very smart to say "Hm... I think I need another hole." *STAB*

By the way, now that the hole in my head has healed enough to feel it, I can tell that the cyst is still there. I'm not gonna try to remove it again, though.

There isn't a thumbstud, it is designed to be flipped open. I can open mine about 4-5 different ways. A truly awesome knife, and yes... wickedly sharp.

ROFL. MightGoat, I tried opening one with the stud at Blade Show. I told the guy, "is this thing supposed to open with this?" and he explained it to me.

So don't feel stupid. :P

I have found that you can use the lower blade guard (the one on the same side as the "thumb studs") pretty much the same way you would normally use a thumb stud or hole. Just put your thumb behind the guard and smoothly slide it out and around to open the knife. When I'm around people who might be sensitive I use this method to open the knife gently.

Of course, flicking it, using the upper blade guard, is a lot faster and more fun. :)

Thats not a thumb stud, its a blade stop.
Ok...So NOW I know why I didn't like it when I played with one at a knife-show last month...I had a hard time getting the darn thing to open trying to use the "thumb-stud"...(I guess it would have worked ok if my thumb were a few inches longer.).
