okay, here we go: i was about to give up on the mail carrier! they normally get to my apartment very late, and today was no exception.

5:00pm rolled around, and i trotted out to the mailbox. nothing. 5:30. again, checked my mailbox. nothing. at 6:00, there was a knock at the door. i was sitting at the computer (it's in our living room). it was a girl with a box, and through my security door, she looked like she was selling candy. i rolled my eyes, and asked "yes?" she said she "had a package for me", and it was about that time that i noticed she was dressed in her USPS uniform. i ran to the door.

she needed me to sign for the package, which i did. the box was actually quite big, and my heart sank a little; i figured this wasn't my knife after all. however, it was odd that USPS would have me sign for a package (i never have before), so there was hope. i thanked her, closed the door, and headed for the dining room. under the light, i could see the sender: Dave's Knife World. elation swept over me like a wave!

the box was expertly packed: a large, tough brown box, then a foam bag, then peanuts, and inside was a bubble-wrapped box. it was quite large. i opened the inner purple CUDA box. inside was a catalog/pamphlet, a "care/maintenance" pamphlet, and a thick, padded zipper-pouch. inside that was my CUDA Maxx.

HUGE. that's the only way to describe it. just like many other forumites i've read about here, i laughed out loud at the size of it. the handle is indeed a blueish/purple hue, and sexy as heck. perfect lock-up, no blade-play when opened. everything is as it should be. the only gripe i might have would be the grinds being slightly uneven. one edge is ground higher than the other, and it makes the blade look slightly uneven when viewing the tip. it's minor, and i suppose it's understandable, considering how tough it must be to sharpen these guys. i've also read that they're hand-ground on a belt. tis the nature of the beast?

anyway, this isn't a review, just my first impressions and opinions. the Maxx is a great knife which will fit nicely into my EDC rotation. thanks to all BFCers who helped me to decide on this sweet slicer!

Ah, the glory of the Maxx...

That was a very nice story. I don't know about the grind on the maxx, sorry.

My story is a little different...

About a year ago, I bought a CUDA Maxx. Very nice knife. I loved it and carried it and it was absolutely a dream knife. We'll, I became quite attached. I took it everywhere. It's exactly how everyone described it. Blade locks tight, no play, no trouble. Sharper than einstien. And looks great too!

Then one day, a friend of mine was going to get a knife, but didn't have the money for the maxx. Since I had other knives I could carry(At this point I own an Aftermath too :) ) I gave the maxx to her, knowing she'd take care of it and treat it nicely and that it would be the perfect knife for her.

Well, it had been about a month and a half, and not a day passed that I didn't think about that knife. so one day, in a spot of weakness, I bought another one. Last night it came for me :) Theer I stood, staring into the big, beautiful, brown....UPS box!! I cut through the tape and bam!! There it is!! I feel complete again :)

As the stories seem to always end, the knife fits perfect, it's sexy, it locks up tight, the knife is a real beauty and is in my pocket keeping me company while I write this :)

Everyone should have a CUDA maxx, it's better than a dog for a best friend. It comes fighter attack trained and you don't have to speak german to give it commands. It doesn't have a "doodoo" problem. You can take it where animals aren't allowed. It's "no bark, all bite" :P All that and it fits in your pocket!!!

She really did need it and she's a good friend of mine. Yes, I'm still kinda shocked that she'd bother carrying it, she's kinda tiny, but God was thinking when he made her I guess.

I would say that anyone else who tries to force themselves upon her is also in for a shock. :D Or I would hope so.

ok, the two of us met in a martial arts class. We've both been there a number of years, and I can guarantee without a doubt that someone who thinks they can pull anything with her is in for a rough ride. she does use knives for utilty purposes, but if self defence becomes the main objective, she's well prepared (and with the maxx, well equipped)
