I had to ask about the "kydex" sheaths as pictured in the AMERICAN HANDGUNNER TACTICAL 2002 ANNUAL. They look to be a tan/red color, almost pink, inside and black on the outside (I am betting Mick will have trouble keeping the answer to this one clean ;)). Is this an illusion of the photo finishing and production of the magazine or are these sheaths made out of a different material? It almost looks as if they are lined with a different colored material. In one picture the black color on the outside looks as if it is worn to reveal the color of the material under it.

All my STRIDER "kydex" sheaths are black through and through.

If this question has been asked and answered already would someone point me in the direction of the post. I missed it.

Thanks in advance for any forthcoming information.

Knifethrower,
I read somewhere that when the guys made those custom sheaths and holsters combo that they lined the kydex with leather or felt of some kind to cut down on the scratches, maybe someone with a sheath/holster can chime in and confirm?

Sorry,
This whole thing fell out of my head.
Yes, it is leather.
No, we don't do it any more.

Thanks panzer and Mick.

I guess that makes those knife/sheath combos extra valuable? You would want to dedicate a leather lined sheath to an environment that would not be conducive to rot I guess? Other than that it souds like a good idea if not overkill for a knife sheath.

And Mick kept it rated G!:)
