I received my custom "Mega Chopper" from Ivan a little while ago and just got around to taking pictures of it now, otherwise I would have posted it alot sooner. I spent a little bit longer then usual when taking these pictures, as picking out the right background and then cleaning up the pic afterwards was really important to me. I tried to compliment the knife as best I could, and I honestly think these are my favorite pictures so far out of any knife I have photographed ( quality has been reduced just a tiny bit so the image sizes are a little more reasonable ).

This is completely one of a kind and both the biggest chopper Ivan has ever made, and I believe the biggest knife he has made in general. What can I say about this blade besides the obvious? It's absolutely beautiful, light and feels GREAT in the hand. The finish and the temper line show a nice grain in the steel, the jacaranda wood slabs wrapped with rayskin and Japanese ito and then resin soaked give it a really great texture and feel, and damn this thing is sharp. Making cuts just feels natural when you are swinging it. Ivan worked incredibly hard on this making sure everything was the best it could be, luckily I got frequent updates with pictures to follow the process from start to finish. All in all I really couldn't be happier, and I have to give a huge thanks to my buddy Ivan for the months of work he put into this. It was really worth the wait!

Specs:
Model: Iv "MEGA" Chopper
Steel: 5160 with Antiqued Finish, Full Flat Grind
Length: Blade 16", Overall 22"
Handle: Genuine blue Japanese Ito wrapped over black rayskin and black jacaranda wood ( the resin soaking makes the wrap look black ).

That is a gorgeous blade, are you going to use it? I love the profile, your design or his?

Geez, that thing is big enough to have training wheels! What a nice necker. ;)

Seriously, very nice.

Thanks for the kind words fellas, it definitely is a beautiful knife. I do plan on using it, at least to cut pool noodles and some light tatami cutting. I'm not sure yet if I will be using it for anything heavier. Saint you have an email coming your way. Ivan has said that if he ever made another one of these he would charge $700 for it, simply because the amount of was alot more then he expected. Considering that, I got this at a really good price and if I ever decided to sell it someone would end up making out nicely.

I should have replied to this thread earlier.
This knife is my best so far in many respects - it was the longest, most complex and time consuming knife I ever made. It chops wood like nothing I ever tried but it is still very well balanced.
It was a real challenge and I have learned a lot through its making. One of those projects a maker really is proud of and won´t forget throughout his career.

It is something I will not forget any time soon. I couldn't have asked for better updates, communication, suggestions or anything else from Ivan. This was definitely a love of labor ( lots of labor =p ) for him, and it really shows. Thanks again for everything bud :).
