Hey guys,

My dad had a question that I couldn't answer. He is
looking for a good EDC blade that has a black clip and is deep carry. He
wears slacks to work so nothing to rough....

Any suggestions?

There are a few.

Combative Edge M1 (comes in a variety of blade shapes). Ti frame lock with a g10 scale. The ti will be easier on his slacks.

Benchmade Contego. G10 scales, so a bit rougher on his pants, but you can always sand the scale down if you really need to (wear a respirator).

This post is getting too many pics, so I'm just gonna link now.

Lionsteel SR-1. Comes in titanium or aluminum. Some have polished clips, so you'll have to look around.

Will edit as I remember more knives.

What style knife, what price range, most traditional style knives don't come with pocket clips. Most microtech knives have black pocket clips or on the lower end of the price range gerber makes a bunch with black clips like the LST. A lot of benchmade also have black clips.

BM Mel Pardue. Mines automatic but they make a manual version. It's pretty light, the scales are smooth but still offer a good grip

I forgot about that sage 4 that would be a great choice... Need to get one of those myself LOL

Kershaw Knockout and Cryo comes to mind, or maybe a buck vantage with paperstone scales....Just about any frame-lock with a smooth locking side(if he's a righty).
Or like another said, go the traditional route...not have to worry about a clip.

I say a Spyderco Sage 1. Nice CF scales - perfect for slacks. Nice liner lock. s30v steel. Low rider black pocket clip.
Also the Spyderco Chaparral - Perfect slicer, s30v, CF, nice strong back lock that is so smooth you can easily open and close it with one hand, low rider black pocket clip.

Perfect work knives, perfect for slacks, and are people friendly as well. Both slice well, and would handle any regular EDC task well.
I would go with one of those two for sure.

I almost listed the Chaparral in my reply as well, but it has a polished pocket clip if I'm not mistaken.

The Kershaw Cryo has a deep carry clip, and the body and blade are made of 8Cr13MoV, so it won't tear up his pocket. The clips also positionable to all four corners.

If you go a little more traditional

Mini trapper single wharncliffe , peanut , and my fav office knife Tiny Trapper single wharnie

I wear slacks at work and always carry a knife. I he wants to go unnoticed, a deep carry clip is more important then the color. The Mcusta gentleman's series is very classy and disappears in your pocket. I also like the Sog Arcitech for carry with slacks. Another favorite is the Al Mar Eagle Ultralight; you can't even tell you're carrying (and it has a black clip). I usually edc a large sebenza, and don't have any issues wearing slacks, but that's as large as I feel comfortable with.

If you're in a state that allows it, he may want a full auto. Ultratechs are small and "conceal" well. UTX-70s are coming out soon and those are even smaller.

another vote for the Kershaw Knockout. the one I have is in G10, but current production has aluminum handles so they won't tear up slacks, and the black pocket clip is deep carry. It's as big as a ZT350, but carries like a Skyline.

The Carbon Fiber Chaparral has a black wire clip.
The Titanium Chaparral has a polished(silver) wire clip.

Either one is beautiful and a excellent choice. But I would definitely go for a Chaparral.
