My dad passed away a few years ago, and when we were going threw some of his stuff I cam across an "Original Bowie" knife. I know its not an original, especially being made in Germany. But I wanted to post this here to get your thoughts and opinions. I would love to have discovered a true treasure, that is worth a lot of money, just to know that my dad had found it. But I know that's not the case. It has really nice Stag handles, and I am particularly curious about the maker, there is a stamp with 3 arrows in a hand. I would love to see pics of your bowies as well.

onejoe, the logo is an import mark of Precise International Corporation (PIC). PIC, founded in NYC in the early 1950s, imported knives to the U.S. market. The "3 arrows in hand" logo was one of their early marks. I'd guestimate your knife was made in the 1950s/1960s, possibly later.

If you search on google for "precise international knife", you'll see some knives similar to yours. And if you search "original bowie knife" on the big auction site, you'll see more. The "Sold Listings" will give you a pretty good idea of the market for these knives. Knives from our fathers/grandfathers are treasures in their own right, I think. :)

Thanks MMM, great info on the mark. You are right it has much more sentimental value than monetary value.

That's an awesome looking knife there, and not being particularly rare or valuable I'd try to find a use for it if possible.
It Would be a pretty manly looking knife to cut steak with for someone who doesn't normally have a need for such a knife 😁

That's an awesome idea, you inspired me. I think I will carve a turkey or a roast with it during the holidays. It is pretty impressive in had. 16 inches overall with a 10 inch blade.

A few years back my dad bought me a cheapo hollow handled survival knife ( a smaller one ) but I didn't have the heart to tell him that I really didn't like it as a knife because of it being junk, so I used it to cut my dinner for a few years.

This may not be a true Bowie knife, but I consider this imperial h6 to be a mini Bowie knife
