As I posted in one of my earlier threads, my dad finally got his elk. He was hunting in South Dakota (where my parents live). I hunted with him for four days in the early part of this month, and we saw only two elk. Anyway, he got a large 6x6 bull on the 15th at about 10AM. He used his Cooper Arms m52 Excalibur chambered in .338-06, and the bullet was a Barnes 185gr TSX. It took only one shot, and it dropped like a bag of bricks. There was no exit wound. My dad decided not to sift through the 200-pound gutpile, so he wasn't able to recover the bullet.
Anyway, I wasn't able to take photos, because I wasn't there, but my dad was able to send to me 35mm negatives, which I scanned to digital. They're not the best, but certainly show the beast well.
I do have some digital photos in route on a CD, taken by one of my dad's friends. I'll post those after they get here.
The elk will soon be hanging over my parents' fireplace.:thumbup:
