My dad has always been into classic cars. In his lifetime he has owned countless cars that would be classics today. About 20 years ago he bought a 1935 Ford pickup and it was garage kept and restored. He recently started entering it in car shows and has amassed quite a collection of trophies for it. Today he told me he has just purchased a car that would have made my grandfather proud...a 1937 Packard. This was the type of car that my grandfather bought when he was able to afford a new car. My dad has always dreamed of getting one and now his wish came true. He got it at a great price and we will be starting to do some restoration work on the interior as well as some rust on the quater panels and fenders. Mechanically this car is in perfect running order. The engine and trans need a good cleaning and degreasing but other than that it is ready to roll. He also told me that he will be passing this car on to me when the time comes so helping out with the restoration is gonna be extra special.

SWEET indeed. I love those '30s Packards. Here in AZ there a lot of great old cars at the car shows since they never rust.

There is life beyond knives !! I'm always happy to see that there are those who will take the time , effort and money to restore and maintain old and cassic cars and other items.

I have a real soft spot for restored vehicles no matter what their age. I used to modify cars but never got into restoration - too much time involved. My favorite tv programs are Overhaulin', American Hot Rod, Classic Car Restoration and other programs of that ilk.

Good luck on the restoration and please show us more pictures as it progresses (I would love to take a look at the engine.)

Man, I love antique cars. They actually had some design, some style. And with this Packard, you can hide all your knives in the secret compartments.

IF you're car was modified by New Jersey moonshiners ;)

Geez, Kalooch, as much as you make, why couldn't you buy him a new car?
Talk about an ungrateful child!

$30,000 kitchen......that's why! My old man makes enough $$$ that he could have bought one that was already restored but he likes the challenge of doing it himself.

Here are some more pics of the Packard.

KV you should send you dad to spend a long weekend in Dayton OH, he can spend a nice day at the packard mueseum downtown, then another day or two at the Wright Pat museum.

Or when he gets it restored drive and visit, used to be on any given weekend enthusiasts would meet there and bring their cars, then head out for a little cruise and dinner.

I went with my dad and uncle to go pick up the car a few days ago. Here it is in all of it's glory. I'm loving this car! :D
