I've been into slip-joints for a while now, but didn't really get into them until about 3 yrs ago or so. My Daughter has shown an interest in some of my hobbies/interests (Guns & knives), so I thought I'd let her start her own knife collection.
I believe the 1st one I gave her was a little SAK, then I bought her one at Bass Pro Shops, allowing her to pick whatever she wanted. She chose a Case tiny Trapper in orange G-10 (Orange was her favorite color back then, although it's changed since).
She has quite a few knives now, including a few Spydercos & some other "modern" folders, but she only uses her slippies.
Her 2 favorites are a Victorinox Spartan & the tiny Trapper.
In her collection are also a Case Seahorse Whittler (In orange G-10) & an old Girl-Scout Scout knife that I believe is from the 50's.
She's 10 now, but it's encouraging to see her use her knives for everyday tasks.
The only problem that I see is her wanting to carry 1 of her slippies with her everywhere, including school, which is a big no-no.
I just thought I'd share this & maybe hear some stories from others that have children that are following in their parents foot-steps here.
