Ohio bow season ran from 9/24/16 until tomorrow, 2/5/17. This was my third season hunting. In the first two, I was fortunate to put some meat in the freezer. Not this year. In 11 outings, there were all of three deer sightings. Only one came in close enough for a shot, and I missed it. That's on me. But compared to my first season, there are just no deer on the property. Not sure what has changed, but I think I need to scout some new places.

So it goes.

Let's drink to better times...

Well, at least you were able to get out and enjoy the attempt to fill your tag. We all want to put meat in the freezer, but the experience of hunting is so much more than a successful kill. Hopefully you had a great time. And...next year will be here before you know it.

Mine is about to start. First hunt over the weekend of 18/19/30 Feb. Weekend after off to NZ for ten days chasing blower then a week in late March a week mid April and then late May. To farking hot at the moment though.

Dinner sure does look good.
How big is the property you hunt? How many deer have been taken off of it in the last two years?

Better luck next year! Your in a good area to put in for the DNR draw hunts. Might want to try that for next year just to add to your current hunting spot.

Had a slow season myself. Just didnt seem to see the number of deer that i am used to. Oh well. Just makes me look forward to next season that much more.

I used to hunt with my dad and his friend, and I realized the part I enjoyed the most was the time we spent together. Dad has been gone for 28 years, and all of those times walking thru fields and woods bird hunting are some of my most cherished memories.

Last night just before it got dark we looked outside to see B-eight deer in our back yard.:D

caught ya slippin Tom, but I fixed it for ya ;)

can't waste an opportunity like that to spread the Basic 8 sickness into every thread possible...

heck I even try to put in B8 references over in the CRK subforum...most of the time they don't get it, however :(

i just had venison sweetish meatballs, back strap ca bobs and venison hot sausage for the Superbowl. it was delicious cant wait to cook up some more. this was my fist season hunting in NY and it wasn't to bad.
