Just wanted to see if any other users out there are as impressed with the D-4 or any Delica for that matter as I am. I punish this knife on a daily basis. I carry a combo edge. In my line of work Im always cutting cardboard, strapping, hose, and all kinds thick heavy rope. I have a new E-4 at home and know that it would do better on some of my large jobs, but to my suprise my D-4 saws through them all with no problem. I do sharpen mine a good bit,so Im thinking about a ZDP-189, I've heard they hold an edge longer? Anyway is anyone else putting there D-4 through hard use?:D

I haven't used mine as hard as you seem to use yours but I really like the D4 and think it's a great knife.

Dont have a Delica 4 yet, but I do plan on purchasing 1 soon as an all around workhorse. For the time being, my salt 1 is getting a lot of carry time and I absolutely love it.

mine is one of my favorite users by far. i punish mine as well, ive been nothing but impressed with vg-10.

I also work the knob off my spyderco at work as well. Between the job, getting up 2:30 to go duck hunting and Sunday chores, I take the easy sharperning vg10 over the pain in the ass zdp.

My D4 has been beat on for the last 2 years. I carry it almost daily. I use it on food at work, I cut open boxes, break strapping, cut tape and it takes it all. I made the mistake last year of loaning it to a co-worker. When he brought it back he had messed up the edge (yes, I said it) prying a cable off the back of a pc. Sent it to Spyderco and it came back with new life. I really can't say enough about how much I like this knife.

vg-10 seems pretty rust resistant as well. i use mine in chloriniated salt pools all the time and just shake it off and throw it in my pocket. maybe once a month a take some emery cloth and knock off the very small specks of surface rust that are very few and far between, the liners need almost no attention. as gonna get a salt but this is just as good for me!

D4 WAS my "beater" but I lost it in the river before it saw much hard use. LOVED it though... the thing is, for me, I cannot justify replacing it with another D4. I have no "problem" with Japanese made knives. But I just can't justify outsourcing/non USA made knives when I can replace it with a nice Kershaw (yes, I know they are outsourced TO the USA) or a Griptilian (even though I liked my D4 better than any Grip I've ever owned). It was the first non USA made knife I've bought since a CRKT KISS in 1997.
Currently, my Millie fills the roll nicely since I gave my Kershaw Skyline to a friend who needed a dose of appreciation!
