For those of you who have actually read my posts, then you know that I am stationed in Turkey. Before I left the states I was aspiring to become a decent maker. I had recieved several tips and valuable information from Mr. Ed Blanchard. I was just getting sround to putting some of my designs into life when I got my orders. Well the I wasnt permitted to bring my equipment with me.

So my infant shop was thrown a 18 month set back (actually probably more since I wiil leave for Japan next). So enough of the sob story and on to the point.

I have continued to design knives that I would love to see come to life. But is there anyone out there that you would recommend that will make my designs and that will again conform to a military budget. I plan to test these designs and to see if I can improve upon them. Any help here would be very much appreciated. If the maker finds the design to be valid and functional (desirable would also be cool

) than they are welcome to take the design for their own. I just want to see how well my ideas would hold up in real life. Thanks for helping the new guys out.

Most of my designs are tactical fixed blades but I have designed two folders. One of which I would love to do in titanium. All of the designs are for hard use. I really was trying to design knives that would fit into the average NCO's pay. I deploy often ans would like to see something that would take the place of the ushenable M-9 Bayonett. I dabled in making a Gladius and a Sub-hilt but those I think are way out of the design budget I have in mind. For example the large blade that I carry the most is a custom battle bowie from Dale Sandberg. It is easy to sharpen and will take one hell of beating. Because lets face it very few people take care of their equipment the way they are supposed to.

Chris,
I share your pain buddy! I have two years until retirement, and lost two years of knifemaking time when stationed in Europe pulling GLCM duty as a cop. I used to sit in the ECP and whittle knives out of scrap wood. Don't fret, once you get back to the states, the fire will be burning hotter than ever, and all the time you've had to think about making will really benifit your work. Good Luck, and never give up chasing the knifemaking dream!

Years ago, a friend stationed in Turkey dealt with a local artisan. If you can do the same, your designs could be made at a very reasonable cost. If you just want to test your designs and don't need a "name" maker this could be the way to go.

I appreciate all the input that I have recieved both through the forums and e-mail. I plan on releasing some of the designs to the interested parties. Ed your right GLCM sucks, but not as bad as a DFP outside of PSAB in July.
