Here is my design, the 'Rooikat', finally sized for viewing by a splendid gentleman and role model for us all.

What do you think? Top is my update, bottom is the original.
I am planning it in natural (tan) canvas micarta, with a natural (tan) leather sheath.
Knife is 8 3/4" long. I designed the handle to fit my hand. I have been measuring and gripping and erasing for months, now.

I came up with the clip point 'cause everything is better with a clip point.
Plus, it looks cool.
It is small enough to be used as a boot or personal survival knife, but big enough to actually be useful. I also planned it out so that the blade could be upsized and still work out.

My original plans are on their way to John, as I type this.

Looks good, I'd definitely add a lanyard though if you intend trying to chop anything with it !

I like it  I agree on the clip point, wait untill you see the pics I post tomorrow ;)

Pitdog,
I intend on the pins being hollow, to allow for a lanyard.

One versaion had 2 pins and a lanyard hole, but I did not like how that looked on a handle this short.

The March special that john made for me has 2 hollow pins, and the rear one is perfect for a lanyard, whic I have put on it.
My clip scout also has hollow pins.

The handle was the hardest part. I tried other knives, I squeezed play-dough then measured it, I drew and erased.

I had originally planned a little guard, but it did not work out as I wanted it to.

The angles and lines on this one are just about perfect; the smallest handle I could get to fully fit my huge Glock 21 sized hands.

Actually, getting the blade curve just so was also a bit of work. I knew exactly what i wanted, from a using as well as an asthetic point of view. Using the graph paper finally allowed me to get it exactly right.

I also played with the idea of having a bit of tang extending out beyond the scales at the butt, but nixed that idea in the final version you see here.

I`ll be starting on it the end of this month, along with Rockywolf`s Hudson Bay.

It arrived early this afternoon. I will take pictures as soon as I can.

You guys are gonna love it. John outdid himself. It's a work of tactical art.

Even the sheath is perfect, with the loop set up to carry my R.U.S.K. close and tight to my body.

Absolutely perfect.

Moving back to the top, for those who had some questions about the finest knife John ever made..... :)

Hmmm, I had forgotten that one. Now for my taste, change the clip point for a Nessmuk hump and it would be perfect.
BTW, where are all the user pics?
