Got back a couple days ago from an amazing 5-day hiking/camping trip to Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont. In the past I've just carried a varied mix of my dad's old Buck and Case knives. My RC4 is all I had on me, and let me just say how much I enjoyed having it for every task/project. I split hardwood with it, practiced making traps, cut food / cooked with it, and dropped it from waist height with the edge landing right onto a rock (see bottom pic for damage).

Amazing sky...

I did have a bear wander through my camp one night, but this rare forest creature was much more frightening to me..

Never really practiced making traps before, but decided to goof around considering I had my RC4...

Here is the minimal edge chip/roll from dropping onto the rock. I did clean it up a bit with a stone on site and sharpen it when I got home, so you can probably barely see the little indent. I'm amazed at how little damage was done. The coating just has a little wear (which I thought would be much worse after all the chopping/batoning/splitting/etc) and my handle is filthy-mcnasty and stinks like fire and death.

I ended up staying on the far south end instead of up by Grout. Had a friend that happened to be in Bennington on the morning of my arrival, so just hitting up route 9 a few minutes east was the best way to get the most time in the woods. Going to hit up your spots in the spring for sure when I have more travel time! Thanks for your guidance!

Great pictures man! I just love the RC-4; you can beat that piece of steel all day and it will show no worse for wear.

I haven't tried anything that takes more finesse than batoning, but after seeing your pics I may have to follow suit.

Awsome pics! Love the sky pic! I recently had the opportunity to put my rc-4 through the motions for the first time over labor day and i see why u liked ur so much! it handled everything i threw at it with ease. Glad you had a good time!
