are all the DOTD's "blems"? or just what they have extra laying around they want to give a deal on? just wondering since i can not find any blems on my new m43 :). you can tell it is hand made, but i def dont see any imperfections! it is a beautiful piece that is for sure. i cant wait to get out and use it! its 18" and 39oz with a 1/2" spine. when i first started looking into kukris i was looking at the ka bar and then the cold steel. i had seem a lot of these other "authentic" kukris and wasnt impressed with their sheath for one. the secure sheath from cold steel is what made me want to get that one, seemed like it was the most secure. i was a bit leery of the HI sheath, not going to lie. after getting it, i can assure you, this should NOT be a concern. it is VERY secure and i know it wont just fall out. now is when i need to learn more about the kukri, how to properly use it, why the different "versions" are more useful for different types of work and so on. shipping was also very fast. i bought this kukri after 4pm eastern time on a wednesday and it was on my door step the next monday :)

after this purchase i cant wait to buy more!

That's a fine example of a heavy-duty M43. Nice big "bell" at the pommel.

The Deals of the Day are sometimes items without blems, which is often the case for uncommon items or those that haven't been offered in a while. They are usually priced accordingly.

All I can say is Beast! Thats a beauty! I really like those big Chitlangi bell shaped handles too. The DOTD's are not all blems. For various reasons she sells perfectly good blades here as well. She will mention in the sale thread what is wrong with the blade if there is an issue. Sometimes its so minor you cant even find the blem.

yeah, once i put a scratch onto any of my "tools" (nice knifes, guns, whatever) i then lower my guard haha its just that first zinger.

great first blade FZR, I hope you enjoy collecting HI as much as the rest of us :D

Oh man that one is a BEAST!

I like the big flare on the handle.

Interested to hear your report on how it chops!

im trying to score a DOTD on a micro bowie...hell, and a full size bowie :)

Send Auntie an Email, she'll fix you up proper with your own special DOD on a micro bowie, she has a bunch. She'll take good care of ya.

And even after the first scratch, never lower your guard with a beast like that, respect it or plan for stitches or worse. I think we love these things so much we sometimes forget how easy it is to get bit.

Nice kuk! You'll like your 43 as much as we do ours. They aren't fancy, but they'll work all day long and hold an edge. After you start cutting saplings, branches, and limbs, you'll figure out how to best grasp the handle to keep it under control. You relax your guard or take your eye off your work for a second, you might find yourself in one big world of hurt. Big kuks take big bites and thus demand respect. Still, with all that being said, you gonna like it!...and do like Bawanna said. Email and see what's available.

When I said lower my guard I meant about being over protective and worrying about scratches :)

I will send an email and see what they got laying around :)

The crunchy sharp lays chips that kind of hurt to bite down on. I've bought three in two days.

Hehe, I think that sounds familiar eh?

Good to hear the addiction is still coursing through your veins. I don't know yet of a case of HIKV that has been cured so I think it must be fatal. The great news though is that it causes very few years of potential life lost with very little premature mortality (unless you don't use safe knife handling skills) :D So we all should have many more years of HIKV infection to look forward too. Which is good news for fellow forum members as the pathogenicity within our demography would tend towards hyperendemic. :D

Good to hear you are pleased with the M43 FZR Confused. And I hope Auntie finds the perfect Itty Bitty Bawanna Bowie for you too.

In rereading I thought that's how you meant as well, the first scratch is the hardest. But at the same time a little safety reminder from time to time isn't a bad thing, not only for you but some of us folks that get over confident or plain forgetful.

Great post, thank you for sharing

This offering wasn't listed as a blem. Auntie will always let you know if it is a blem, and what the blem is, she must have better eyes that most of us, because sometimes we can't even find the blem, once we receive it...lol.

You got a super M43 there, it was made by Tirtha, and he can seriously make a blade. Congratulations, and know now, that HIKV is highly contagious, and it gets worse with time. So, I'll just say, "sorry" right now. Some forumites here must be well past stage 7, by looking at some of their collections...lol.
